I heart Billy Dee Williams.

Look, here is my take on it. The advance stats might give the clear edge to Holden but McD actively broke up and prevented several great scoring chances for the other team as well as being directly involved in the offence.

I'm really concerned that many of the hardcore advanced stats advocates are too lost in the numbers to consider the bigger picture.

I have an advanced mathematics education. I am a huge proponent of analytics and metrics in almost every aspect of my professional life. I personally don't care to analyze hockey (which I watch for fun) the same way I do the things that I am responsible for at work, and the fanatic and smug adherence to a few of these stats has made this place significantly less enjoyable to visit.

The eye test is real. The reality you experience is real. Yes, your senses are prone to tons of subconscious biases, but you can make yourself aware of them and minimize their effects. I've read and love Kahneman/Tversky/Thaler - I'm a believer, seriously.

Statistics, in addition to being predictive, should also be descriptive. When the numbers don't match experience, it is entirely possible that your biases are clouding your experience, but it's also possible that the numbers are either ill-conceived or simply not applicable to the situation at hand. Good analysis is backed by data but is comprised of much more than JUST DATA.

It's a shame Grabner is gunna be too expensive for us. Yet again we bring in a role player, he excels and gets big money elsewhere.

It's almost as if we are a well-run organization.

We have gotten two "lucky" wins the last couple of days. Tonight was decent, back to back game just get the two points. Last night was poor and we got lucky imo. Hank has been solid though, which is great! Two hard teams to play against and we got two wins, have to be happy with that!

Voted for Zucc, Hank and Skjei.

How did we look overall? I missed this one and (except for the Gabby goal) yesterday’s as well.

If i was Grabner I'd seriously consider taking a pay cut to remain with the Rangers. Really seems to be loving his hockey here and fits the team perfectly.

We basically stole another win. We're playing pond hockey out there and if not for Lundsanity and some opportunistic successes, we'd be in deep fecal matter. I understand that it was the sixth game in nine nights and we were running low on gas, but we're getting dominated in possession and we have no cycle game to speak of. Other than the lone best shift we've had in 65 years (seriously) at one point, when we had the puck in the Bruins' zone for like 2 minutes that amounted to an even-strength power play.

This team hasn't has a consistent or existent cycle game since 2014.

I don't agree with this. I thought we played well and showed a lot of effort the past 2 games. The rangers game is getting high quality scoring chances which they got plenty of the last 2 nights. They played their 6th game in 9 days tonight which also was the second of back to back and on the road. They showed me a lot this weekend by getting the 4 points.

I'm not questioning their effort. I am increasingly concerned about the rush style they play. I didn't feel like they had control of this game. We took seven(?) penalties, and the Skjei one, he basically had to take the penalty to stop Marchand, but he scored on the PP anyway.

Good post. I'd say we are probably in for some regression, but with Hank playing like he is and a healthy Zibanejad, might not.
