Does all this greatness only apply to a stat sheet?
Because we've yet to witness anything that resembles NHL defense in the real world from the aforementioned players..

Say what you want about Brady skjei but he's the only true legit future dman this team has right now. He wasn't even a high pick. This kid still has the tools and have no doubt he will continue getting better. It's no coincidence that many of the partners he's had have played some of the their best recent hockey. See smith 2017 playoffs, Staal this season and even shatty

Let me rephrase this:

Chill the **** out.

Speaking of which I left when the game went to 4-1.........and I've just come back now......so I'm not in a horrible mood. I can only say that I'd be really pissed if I'd spent a lot of money on this, but being able to walk away from things that are pissing you off is actually a good thing. Anyone who sat through this entire shit show is way too masochistic for me.

I try to not get upset about games, everyone here has a right to (within reason). But we can't just start insulting each other.

And I thought the stat sheet talk had its own thread ?

What a pathetic effort today. Especially behind the bench.

I know it's been said already, but I'm going to repeat it: this type of game just highlights what we truly are without amazing goaltending. I'm not thrilled with Pavs today, but I can't really blame him when we were that poor defensively. The laziness and poor starts are getting tiresome, and this complete absence of structure in the defensive zone is antithetical to how you win in today's league.

Something needs to change because this is a talented group of players. I don't want these bad habits sticking with our younger guys.

This team makes me embarrassed to admit I’m a Rangers fan. How the bleeping hell do you lose 7-2 and fall behind 5-1 in the second period AND SHOW NO GDAMN EMOTION. I’m sick. And to hear islanders fans take over the garden and own the place makes it worse. Elf them and this POS soft French Canadien coach. I’d rather a team full of Dan Girardi sacrificing their bodies and Tanner Glass’ hitting and fighting even if they lost by 20. Show me you care.

I mentioned the results being similar to the Dark Ages if you take away the goaltending.

Now compare this roster and the Dark Ages rosters. It's even more of an indictment on the coaching.

This board is going to be real interesting when shots, chances, goals, zone entries, and systems are deemed inappropriate to discuss.

They're two completely different eras of hockey, and I'm sorry, but they're just not comparable. We have a really good, young offensive team, with a decent group of dmen, and an elite goalie. We have some promising players waiting in the wings in the first time in a while. The biggest issue still remains the defensive system. They try to do too much to spur a counterattack. It's just not necessary, and plenty of teams have figured out how to play zone and pressure puck carries to create a counter-transition attack.

AV hockey going up the ice is great. AV hockey coming down the ice and in the d-zone is a tire fire. He's a smart guy, and this should be obvious.

It's not "stat sheets." It's hockey.

We're free to discuss hockey in any thread.
Seems to always end up in the stat sheet talk. There is more to the game than just that.Rarely do we talk about specific plays or actions that happen in a game. Its only either about the coach or what Corsi factor a player has.

I actually think the second half is going to be worse than the first half. We're going to have many more road games and we're not going to have Kreider and too many of our forwards are underachieving and not scoring and our defense and our breakouts have been horrific. Those are the trends I'm seeing anyway. Is it any particular player's fault? Not really. I don't think you can dump it all at AV's door either--though replacing him is an option--though replacing him is not IMO going to make this year's team any better. You take one major piece (Kreider) away from this group and we end up with all kinds of mismatches at far as the lines go. The truth is Henrik has been holding the entire team together. The other supposed best players are underachieving and the guys you'd hope would rise the quickest like Skjei and Buchnevich aren't rising fast enough at least as far as this season is concerned.

AV hockey is also a tire fire in the offensive zone, barring the shifts we score immediately.

We can't forget that.

He is a smart guy, but his arrogance is something the likes of which I haven't seen anywhere else: hockey, other sports, other fields; anywhere.

He thinks he can re-invent the sport in his image.

this franchise needs a dose of #11 right now (in any capacity). The Dubinsky/Callahan/Prust days seem like decades ago. So sad.
Can I like this about 100 times. No one has balls. Even McDonough. Drop the gloves captain, rough someone up. Fire up your teammates and the crowd. Shit. I hate this group of guys. Softest team in the league and not very like able at all

Maybe its come to fruition that this team isn't good enough. We tried and got pretty close to winning it all. We had many many years void of first round picks. Thats right now chance to draft a difference maker like Barzal forget about even coming close to a game changer. Maybe its not only about the system but rather that young hungry talent you can only draft.
