Not to mention customs issues (although I imagine you pre-clear in Toronto), along with the possibility of very long TSA Checkpoint lines at JFK once you actually get there...

Still, between the traffic alone, I would not feel safe unless I had around 3 hours between flights. Factor in the other stuff (plane being late, customs, etc) and it gets a bit more scary

There are bus/van shuttle services that run directly from the terminal you arrive in to the terminal (at the other airport) you leave from. Sounds like several require reservations. I'm sure there's lots of information online.

Have you considered flying Icelandair from Helsinki to New York and from Toronto to Helsinki? It would be easier, and on Black Friday you'd probably get those flights for about 400 euros when you choose the multi-city option. It's only about a one-hour layover in Reykjavik both ways. It takes two hours more to get from Helsinki to New York than on a direct Finnair flight, but your trip from Toronto to Helsinki might be about 6-7 hours faster.

Yea, considered that but at least yesterday the cheapest one-way (with luggage and reasonable layover) from Helsinki to New York was more expensive than roundtrip with Finnair.

Didn't do any extensive research though, so there might be something to be found. Luckily I'm in no hurry and can wait for some decent offers.

If you're travelling in March, Black Friday is a good time to buy those flights. Direct Finnair flights to JFK have usually cost about 500 euros then. They were only €378 for Finnair Plus members last week. That was exceptionally cheap but the offer already expired. I'll be visiting NYC for the tenth time in February and those were by far the cheapest direct flights to JFK I've ever bought.

Yeah, I think those 378€ tickets were only with carry-on luggage (at least for the days I was checking). Was still considering those but wanted to figure out that Toronto-thing before committing. But as already mentioned, I'll look more into this later on.

That's the best part of living in NYC. So easy to get out and meet for a drink. In most other cities it's definitely twice as much of a hassle.

As I have for each previous Red Hot Hockey weekend, I was planning to hit the Flying Puck on Nov. 29 to watch the Black Friday matinee and some college hockey, then hit the Blarney Rock before and after the BU game on Saturday. How long had the Blarney Rock been there?

I think the closest would be section 7, as that's next to the tunnel closer to the visitor's bench. I'm not 100% on that so maybe somebody else here can confirm. Enjoy the game

I always enjoy a good Pete Wells takedown

I'm not saying he's totally right, I've thoroughly enjoyed most steaks I've had at Luger's. But now there are many places to get a good steak in the city, and most of them have better wine lists and more appetizing sides. Given the choice, I'm probably going to choose to go to Cote over Luger's 9 times out of 10. And the 10th time is only because I'm craving something nostalgic.

Sometimes when a restaurant has thousands of people loyal to them, they get by on name recognition and stop doing the things that made them the best.

I haven't eaten at Luger's since the mid 2000s, but if this review is accurate, that's sad. That was such a great place for so long.

Wells can come off like a giant dick, but I wouldn't be surprised if most of this review is accurate. The service was never that friendly there to begin with. Plus with all the tourist business that place gets, they don't really care if you come back or not. However, if the steaks have really gone that far downhill, then there's no excuse, they deserve to hear about it.
