If you want to overdose on liquor, take a shot every time JD says “type of thing.” You’ll be dead in the first 10 minutes.
I think I’d od on beer in that drinking game! I can’t stand locked on, way, way, way too much filler, but it’s what the corporate gods demand.

To be fair to JD, SJHN has four people to play off each other and y’all’s chemistry is quite good. Not to mention you’ve got Dan ducking Boyle on the pod.

Great podcast. Look forward to the prospect line up (Chris Peters, Brock) continuing to roll through!

I've said it before but next time he has a guest on, watch the number of times his eyeballs roll to the back of his head (in true Shark fashion) before he insistently nods in agreement.

Or totally butchers idioms.

I quite like Sheng, I think his analysis is good and I think he thinks like a reporter and it makes the podcast sound, well, like a professional is in charge. He talks to scouts, other reporters, he has real insider knowledge and pursues leads and so on. I think it would be significantly weaker without him, actually. Sure, he can talk a lot, but it’s fine.

Honestly, they just need an actual editor to cut the episodes and not use AI. Every good podcast has a good editor attached to it.

On the other hand, I find it nearly impossible to listen to Locked On.
Really hot take for some, I can't stand any podcast other than the SJHN podcast. Not Professor Hockey, not The Hockey Guy (podcast-esque). I think Big Head Hockey and Hockey Psychology are pretty good, a few other coaching/ video channels. But mostly no thank you.

I really like the guys at Macklin Years as humans and great banter but I stopped listening to the pod because too long (they all are, including SJHN) and no offense intended but a bit too optimistic/positive/tuned into the reddit vibes. I guess I like my fandom with the bitter broccoli of realism that many of our debates here take.

But seriously, even with the addition of Boyler, Keegan has low-key been the MVP of this podcast since he joined. And no, I'm not just trying to suck up to him here! (Not tagging him—don't tell him and let his ego get too big from all this praise, lol.)
Agreed. I think he makes really good points, and doesn't talk just to talk. Sometimes I find some others on the podcast talking over each other, or going on tangents - where Keegan always seems to be respectful, and well spoken.

After listening the latest Podcast for the first time although I have listened to a few minutes other times I do have to say our HF Sharks Board guy has a great voice for radio even a face for video though Sheng has neither LOL but Sheng is a pro host that runs a good show though as you guys say he has his stubborn takes.
I just want to get Sheng some hair gel so he can control that bit of hair that likes to stand on end

Also agree that Sheng is awesome in that he at least aims to bring a non-bias approach, and outside perspectives making it professional.

Professor hockey is good.

Agree SJHN is the most comprehensive. Sometimes I get annoyed with the tangents and how long the episodes are, and just want a TL;DR but the fact they bring in outside perspectives and do some real research is key. Definitely head and shoulders above the rest, and not like other podcasts don't have similar issues.

Professor hockey is fine but I don't like it and think the analysis we get into here is better and deeper.
He's got my respect for reviewing every game, especially during those brutal years. I'd prefer he try to dive deeper into specific topics/schemes/development rather than try to say something about every player every game, but it seems to work for him well enough.

His current format works well for his audience. But would be interesting to see him partner with someone else on a topic to go deeper.

just finished the pod and I still don't know if I am comfortable making a choice at 2. You almost have to know your offseason moves before they happen.

really good episode. Loved hearing the updates from Marchant. Especially about Kaspar H. I really like his shot and hope he takes the advice and works hard on his strength and conditioning this offseason.

Sheng seems to have adjusted well to finding his way to jump in the convo without totally taking over. edit: I loved Boyler giving Sheng hell about the Hart voting lol.

watching this podcast evolve has been fun. well done!

SJHN is the most informative and has the best flow conversation wise of all Sharks related podcasts. Really like how every host brings an their own important element to the conversation.

But I still have a soft spot for Teal Town USA because of being one of the pioneers of SJ podcasting and I like their consistency with going live after every game, trade etc.

The saddest part was me trying to get up to do something and then just sleeping
You know, there *are* ways to understand the pro hockey players/prospects without getting sympathy concussions, right? Your analysis is fine without going all Daniel Day-Lewis
