Blame JDR all you want but we came out completely flat on BOTH sides of the ball. To me that screams a HC who can't properly motivate his team. RR needs canned first day of the off-season.
An offense that has a 3 and out …that’s 3 plays of “flatness”. A defense that each drive allows the opponent 8-10 plays and a TD is an entirely different issue. They literally did not force them to punt ONCE in the first half. Sure Rivera deserves some blame (he’s a figurehead, he doesn’t make the game plans …but he is probably the GM and deserves tons of blame for that), but there is no question in my mind that JDR is scuttling this team and will continue to do so.

Brian Robinson had 6 rushes for 10 yards. Thats .... not .... good?
Well, when you're down three scores at the half chances are the run games going out the window in the second.

This is also worthless.

Offense was okay other than the Sam pick

2nd half Sam showed me a lot. At the end of the day yes he's still a bit raw and learning but the fact that it was 27-3 and it was even 30-20 is sligitly impressive.

After the half, RR pulled one of his usual "how dare you ask me that question here's a blunt answer and an uncomfortable stare" move on the sideline reporter, saying he didn't talk to the team and let them sort it out themselves.

It's also clear he didn't talk to the team BEFORE the game to get them fired up. Or maybe he did and it backfired. Either way, if an ENTIRE TEAM comes out flat to start a game that's not on the players. That's on the guy who's in charge of...the entire team.

Let's see which bus RR is going to throw someone under, then:

“It starts at the top,” Rivera said. “We’ve got to be better and that part is on me. Then we got to make sure we’re put in a position to be successful.”

Huh. Well then. I guess he finally called his own number. If anything it seems he can read the room well enough to know the new owners aren't going to put up with player-blaming, especially since one of the owners currently calling them out is one of the greatest athletes of all time.

It's possible the Bears were unusually fired up partly because of their motivation to end their losing streak, partly because of the way they've blown some leads this year, and partly because of the death of Dick Butkus.

If you're RR you have to recognize those things and be ready. It seems convenient to credit the intensity gap to the Butkus factor, but RR's teams have been perpetually slow to get going, both in the standings and on the game clock.

That sure seems like a leadership problem however you break it down.

JDR needs to be fired today. We were merciful enough to not fire him straight after the game. Give him a day to pack his things and get out, but I'd be very surprised if he was still coaching this defense tomorrow. One day, get your shit together in your office, and get out.

In the rare event that he stays, don't put Forbes on a #1. He doesn't even earn a #2. If you're playing dime maybe he can be an extra DB. But he ain't going up against nobody's 1...or 2....anymore. Not after what they did to him. What a terrible week for the young man.

What's strange is it's not just JDR. How do you throw 55 straight times, even when trailing? What is EB thinking there? That's not how you open up a defense.

It seems like RR is a caretaker coach...an absentee figurehead CEO. His coordinators are running the show without any real direction.

JDR can be saved if they look better without Forbes. Forbes is too much of a liability now. So sad because I believed in him, and maybe he can still save his career, but don't put him on the field anymore for now. It's not only the defense too, as usual this o-line can't protect anyone. Chicago had only 2 sacks coming into this game. They had 5 last night.

Chicago played their B or C team, most of their players were hurt, and they still beat Washington. Everything about this was so confusing, especially when Chicago is in much worse disarray than this organization. It should have been an easy slam dunk.

Went to bed at 20-3. Figured I’d either wake up to a pleasant surprise of a comeback win or I would save myself the frustration of watching hot ass on the field and sleep for 8+ hours — either would be a win. Not even mad. Might be the best thing that could have happened.

Ron and Jack have nowhere to hide and no excuses. They have no business being in the positions they’re in at this point. Getting smoked on offense, defense, and special teams at home on a short week in year four to a rookie head coach of an 0-4 team decimated by injuries on primate time TV is a fireable offense. What improvements have these two guys made on the field in four seasons? Their handpicked rookie DB is costing them games and got benched yesterday. Every single game there are blown coverages in the secondary that lead to big plays against.

The only positive right now is Howell. He’s got some growing to do but he’s got what you need from a QB1. And I really like EB but 55 straight passes yesterday? Are you kidding me? Where are Terry and Dotson in this offense? The Chiefs never had stud outside WRs and relied mostly on Kelce and Tyreek so I guess it makes sense that Samuel is having a resurgence and Thomas is a big part of the offense but man, everything is out of balance right now.

he's not a rookie. he's been responsible for 14 straight losses. Chicago literally had the 1 and 2 picks in the draft leading up to this game. they're awful.
