You know, I was just wondering what we've gotten from our last 2 second round picks -- just for gits and shiggles I decided to look up our seconds over the past few years.
Here are the last 5 2nd rounders we've actually used:
23: Quan Martin S (hmm, I guess drafting Safeties in 20, 21 and 22 wasn't sufficient, so it made sense to use a second rounder to run the streak to FOUR years)
22: Phildarian Mathis DT -- yup the team is SO loaded at every other position on the roster that they really HAD to use a second on a luxury back-up -- and by "luxury," I mean a guy who's played one game.
21: Sam Cosmi T -- OK, so he's not a tackle anymore, but he was our starting RT -- until he proved he's really not a starting RT. But, hey, he's on the roster and does play every game, so that's, you know -- something.
20: No 2nd
19: No 2nd
18; Derrius Guice RB -- slid because of huge red flags, but our brain trust did their homework. Shocking that he ended up being a woman-abuser, but really, who could've seen that coming? Hold on, I'm getting something in my earpiece... (what's that? Oh. Oh dear.) OK, scratch that. He, uh, yeah... he was a bad guy.
I'm beginning to think that our talent scouting operation may have some fundamental flaws.
They're awake. They just suck.
