The NFL knows how to leverage a good marketing thing….
lol oh I'm not even really against it, I think it's pretty damn funny and it's about to cause a whole lot of inadvertent controversy before it's all over.

Mods can fix this if I mess it up but I just read an article saying that the right wing was pretty irritated with Taylor Swift for encouraging people to register to vote, and now she's apparently dating a stud TE for the Chiefs? Demographics are about to make some choices, and I can't wait for that popcorn material because she's probably got them beat.

lmfao you'd think Taylor Swift was starting QB for the Jets by how much coverage she's getting.
Better then watching the Jets try to score a TD

Holy shit, Zach Wilson having himself a game, he's been threading passes like crazy and that 2-pt was nuts

I dunno, I'm kind of rooting for Zach Wilson after last night. The guy is getting shit on like he's Ryan Leaf or Tim Tebow and he's clearly got real talent. What he's been lacking is some NFL smarts. Some of that may be on the coaches.

He should be picking Aaron Rodgers' brain every day. Just watch out for the weirdo parts.

Still pissed that Ron was so lame yesterday. Never want to hear him called Riverboat again. They were staring at one play for two yards and the win and instead he thought that driving the length of the field again or stopping an offense they hadn’t stopped all day and then driving the field were better options. Gutless, especially after his young QB just showed gigantic balls getting them in that position. And what’s more, he thought that playing potentially an extra quarter when they have a game on Thursday with a short week was a better option. Please get this guy and his garbage defensive coordinator their walking papers.

Zero situational awareness. This fits the pattern we saw last year when he didn't know the playoff scenarios.

I understand battlefield decisions are often under duress but this is basic NFL canon, right? Common sense? NFL Coaching for Dummies?

You try to avoid prolonged games when you have short rest. You generally go for the win on the road. If you have momentum you press your advantage. Simpler is better and one play to win is preferable to giving the ball to the other team.

Everyone knows this. What was his plan? Has he said anything?

Oh right, he said "the guys were gassed".

ONCE AGAIN throwing the players under the bus.

The kid has a long way to go but after todays performance it’s hard for me not to be optimistic about having a QB moving forward. We’ve been burned before so my optimism comes with significant levels of caution though.

Yeah, I don't need a world-beater. I'll take a good QB with character and gumption that's stands up instead of folding in tough situations. Heinicke, Smith, and Cousins all fit that mold for me, too. We've had a few the last few years unlike all the duds we had for 20 years prior. Time to lock one up and focus on building an offense around him. He's smart, can make all the throws, and has the right attitude. Now go get him an offensive line so we don't bust his leg like we did with RG3, Smith, Fitz, and Wentz.

He balled out last night…if you’re a Jet fan, you have some hope today.

I’m not mad about RR not going for 2. Every time he does shit like that, they miss and it’s over.

One can never say for sure, but do we *really* think they would’ve made the 2 to win the game? I sure don’t. They would’ve tried some funky delayed run which would’ve been blown up by Philly.

I think OT was the correct decision. Give the guys a chance to breath and get back at it.

Elliott made the long kick. That’s the way it goes.

The problem is RR's excuse was stupid. "The guys were gassed" so I decided to give them a minute rest then play another quarter? The defense was also gassed, press them.

Goon already delineated the NFL canon says that you go for the win in that situation. RR went for the win vs Miami a few years back in a meaningless game when the win resulted in us losing the #1overall pick and Joe Burrow. He went for the win against the Giants in some game recently as well. Here he went conservative, hoping his defense would stop a team they haven't stopped all game.

In general, I don't like any of RR's decisions. I feel like he's really out of step with todays NFL.

Good game, team showed fight good bounce back

Defense never had the big play we needed, gave up too many big air plays, rookie on an island w either no safety help or poor safety play

Forrest needs to play better, lucky there is no one behind him

A big jim zorn hip hip hooray for Sam and Eric B

On the flip side if he went for 2 and didn’t get it he would have been roasted on here for not going to OT.

Sure hindsight is 20/20. But we can also look at home/road team overtime results and look backwards to see what the percentages said. A guy who is called Riverboat should know that you gamble when the odds are in your favor, and you take risks when you need to.

One of the things that made Joe Gibbs such a great coach was they he gambled on 4th down, and threw in trick plays like flea flickers and reverses, and did onsides kicks, when he had properly set them up and the odds of success were better. He had a feel for the game that was nearly unmatched. I just feel Ron has so little sense of timing and feel for the game and yesterday was no different. His comments about not knowing we could be eliminated from the playoffs was indicative of all that.

This is just default cynicism about perceptions of default cynicism.

I thought it was the right call to go for 2 as soon as they scored. I laid out the reasons why. They're not dependent on who the coach or team is, or how I feel about those things.

First home game after Sean Taylor passed, we had a 45 or 50 yard field goal to win it late vs the Bills ... Joe called back to back timeouts = penalty = we lost the game. Now me personally, I think joe did it intentionally out of extreme human compassion bc he wanted to protect his kicker if he missed it. Too much moment placed on one guy.

--------

id have gone for it but 2 pt conversion is less than 50% .. Im not going to blame Ron here.

After the Bills game, some fans blamed Ron for the play calling and not having a true Qb competition and giving Brissett a fair chance this summer to win the job.

is what it is

Ron has such small in game impact now but things like going for 2 .. thats on him. Rons strength is being a leader of men.

The success rate for 2pt conversions is about 48% on avg and the team that wins the coin flip wins the game about 52% of the time.

Which basically means your chances of winning are roughly the same if you take the tie or go for 2 there.

So given there's no significant statistical advantage either way, the other things I mentioned earlier should supersede anything else.

if I was a coach, id go for 2 everytime and have a 2 point conversion unit. Special teams, offense, defense and 2 point conversion teams. I would get it up to 60-70% success rate and then rake.

Id have gone for it yesterday, our D wasnt going to stop the Eagles offense.

but like you said .. "chances of winning are roughly the same" .. so we picked tails and lost. I always pick heads.

I need my studs up front to win 1v1 more.

This recipe on D doesnt work if we dont get pressure w 4 or 5 AND guys are still getting wide open when dropping 7 .. its complimentary, one of those units should win

The man had his team ready to play and almost win in Philly after being embarrassed at home the week before. I just don’t think it’s necessary to shit on him for this.

In regards to him not knowing his team could be eliminated last year, EB didn’t know his offense had given up 19 sacks in 3 games when asked last week leading up to the Philly game. That would appear to be a pretty important stat for an OC to know. Especially a stat that bad.

Jamal Adams must have a cursed jock strap. Bets on himself and shreds his quad tendon in wk1 last year, then comes back this season in wk4 and first series back gets knocked out with what looks like a concussion.
