Tough to see Tress on that list. No issues with the others, Leno especially. GTFOH

Wow. Is he that highly rated? That would make him one of the top paid coaches.

The mastermind of the Lions who choke every time they have a big stage?

One of the top paid coaches across all pro leagues.

At first glance I was uncertain he should be this high, but on further thought the offense often often produced enough to win and the defense was absolutely terrible.

6'4 is pretty good size for a QB. Im liking JD more and more. You really cant pass on that kindof upside when you have a chance. The last LSU heisman winner turned out pretty damn good.

On Bryce Young. Name one good Alabama QB in the NFL from the Nick Saban era.

I fear Alabama and OSU QBs. They learn how to play with vastly more time and space gifted to them than any NFL QB will have, and with a huge advantage in WR talent that also doesn't exist in the NFL. Whatever their talent level is, the NFL is a huge shock for them.

I also fear Caleb Williams. Great athlete. Too often looks like he'll be limited to merely being a great college QB by virtue of athleticism. He has spent a lot of this year doing a lot of stupid stuff and getting punished for it. I dislike where he's been heading. All his hero-ball working last season seems to have convinced him he can make anything work, and college DBs have been making him pay. The omens are bad.

Drake Maye is where it's at. If he's available to us then our new GM has to think hard about trading Howell for picks, grabbing Maye, and using all those picks to build around him. And I've made it clear I'm an unreasonable Howell fanboi for years now. Especially if the new GM will be creating his own full regime, let them have their own QB to mold from day 1. Just don't make it Williams. That's fools gold.

I guess where I am coming from, is recognizing that they aren’t fixing all that ails them, in one off season.

They won’t plug all their holes. But beyond that, they need true difference makers, wherever they can draft them, regardless of position.

Even if you LOVE Howell as your QB, this is a special QB draft. They should be all over teams BPA lists. One slides for you, you jump on it. You HAVE too.

Howell and next year be damned. We need our QB of the future, and Howell is no slam dunk with that.

Unless you believe he is?

I am certain Howell has all the tools to be a #1 but after getting destroyed physically in this offense this year he has to be questioning everything all the time by now. And he might be learning a 3rd offense in as many years? He has all the tools, but hitting his potential on this particular team and in this particular situation seems like a big uphill battle.

And it will be wash, rinse, and repeat for any shiny, new QB that comes to this team with an OL as porous and protection-less as ours has been for years.

Other than taking Trent with the 4th OA in 2010 (which turned out to be a good move that helped provide a modicum of OL strength and stability for a couple of years until Lil Dan got pissed about his weed habit), a core feature of Lil Danny's reign of error was to view OL guys as fungible commodities - rather than as foundational pieces.

To me, one key sign of whether new management understands how to build a winning team is if they prioritize constructing and maintaining a solid OL.

Absolutely.

Was looking at the Eagles line for analysis…..

LT - Mailata 7th rounder (age-26)
LG - Dickerson 2nd (25)
C - Kelce 6th (36)
RG - Jurgens 2nd (24)
RT - Johnson 1st (33)

backups are a 4th rounder and FAs…

Maybe I'm in the minority here but trading picks for coaches is a terrible idea unless you have a product on the field that's ready to win right now. We're not there currently. We'll need every high pick we can get to recover from Ron's character with athleticism drafting technique.

I dont think he does. I’m sure he has a say, but it’s not his job.

I think he’d be a great coach for whomever it is, going forward.

I certainly won’t give up a 1st. Least not this year. Probably not next either, in case.

2026? Yeah sure.

I don't think he does either. Nobody acts like he's blown roster assembly that I've seen.

Belichick is going to go somewhere where he is GM, and Bill the GM completely undermines Bill the Coach

I wouldn't want a coach who'd choose to go to a team that was just giving away picks like that.

Meh. Gruden went to Tampa, and won a bowl.

Hell, didn’t NE pay for Belichick?

Denver just paid for Payton, and it’s gonna work out for them. Far better now than last year, and team is the same, mostly.

I would for the *right* coach. Tomlin may fit that bill, IMO.
