Missed the second half for beer league but recorded it and watched most of it. Ideal outcome. Del Rio and Rivera are clowns and I cannot wait until they get shitcanned. JDR is just trolling us at this point. Howell is The Guy.

EB I’m a bit confused on… seems like the receivers have trouble getting separation in this scheme and his allergy to running the ball is frustrating but I can’t tell if he throws a lot because that’s how Howell gets into a rhythm or that’s what he thinks the offense is built for or because he thinks he has to score 30+ points a game to make up for the D, or if he really just hates running the football. Either way, far less concerned about the offense than the defense. We can say EB isn't running enough but Howell looks like a top 15 QB right now and this year was all about developing him so if the run game is sacrificed in order to better evaluate and improve Howell's development then I'm all for it.

I see two more wins in their future. I think they beat the Giants on Sunday as long as Jones doesn't play and I think they beat the Jets but I see no chance against the Cowboys (x2), Miami, or San Francisco. If the defense holds any of those teams to under 30 points I'll be shocked. The game vs the Rams is a tossup but given that it's in LA I'm marking that as an L.

6-11. Ron and Jack are fired on Black Monday. 6-11 was good (or bad) enough for 7OA last season.

I think Howell's development has been the most important thing that's happened this season. He is proving that the team doesn't need to keep trying to fill that spot -- they can focus their picks and their vast cap space on fixing the areas that need serious help.
Any coach they bring in should be happy to have a young, cost-controlled QB who's proven he's a genuine starter, but also has enough clay in him to be molded to a system they may bring. He's probably making the inevitable HC opening much more attractive, maybe putting some candidates in play who wouldn't otherwise consider this a desirable gig.
It's the only thing that mattered. They're looking at entering 2024 with a QB1 making pennies on the dollar, a new coaching staff and a new GM, three top 50 picks, and a boatload of cap space. The future is bright, we just need to fast forward through the rest of this dogshit season.

Perfect game, perfect Sunday

Exciting close game
Howell continues to improve
O line is better pass pro
We lost but it was a good game to watch
JDR did dial up some heavy blitz w success in the second half 3rd downs
Way had another good game, he was struggling earlier this year

Sucks about Forbes, he seemed prime to add to last weeks game
Cheeseman is still a problem but I guess an offseason problem

7-10 prediction stays right on target

Look good while losing please

This is what the optimist in me thinks also. The downside to EB not running the ball is we may lose some games we shouldn't have. The upside is we're developing Slingin Sammy rapidly and we had no business pretending we were a playoff team in the first place. One might hope EB is playing 3 dimensional chess and developing Sammy, knowing he will have a shot to be HC next year, and then he will call a balanced game trying to, you know, actually, win the game, as Herm Edwards once said. Of course its also possible that EB just doesn't have a feel for balance at all. He's Norv on steroids.

The sad thing is, we're going to beat Dallas or SF or Miami just out of sheer stupidity, but lose most of the rest and probably end up right back at 7-10 again. I've never seen a team play to the level of their competition like this one does, and I've been a fan of this franchise for a century. The Spurrier teams, Gibbs pt 2, Shanny, Jay... we've watched them lose to the dregs then beat undefeated Steelers teams, for no damn reason. Sooooo Redskinny!

JDR's gotta go

And at this point anyone still blaming Sam for the losses we keep piling up can't be helped

One guy who should be at the top of the list if they don’t go with EB is Ben Johnson, OC for the Lions. He’s managed to build something pretty terrific on offense there and was rumored to be a dark horse head coaching candidate last offseason. It sounds like it’s pretty much a sure thing that he’ll be a head coach somewhere next year and I’d be very interested in bringing him to DC.

With new ownership, a young QB on a terrific contract, a ton of cap space, plans to play in a new stadium within the next 3-4 years, and some high draft picks with a fairly talented roster I think this is the first time we can say that Washington should be a pretty coveted position this offseason. Can’t see too many other potential openings that offer a better start than what the Commies can offer.

He probably figures he's out after the season and doesn't want to shitcan any of his buddies. If they all walk at the end of the year it looks a little better on the resume'.
Exactly this…..circle the wagons….protect the group. He knows he’s gone and firing anyone isn’t changing that.

He could very well be gone and that would suck. Havent seen a coach come in and actually change things and improve as much as he has.

EB coaching past 3 games and the Denver game = brilliant imo
If that’s the case, I am done with Ron and ready to give him a chance for the rest of the season

My top 3 in no particular order of guys ready to promote from within the NFL…..

Ben Johnson - Lions OC
Brian Callahan - Bengals OC (son of Bill)
Frank Smith - Dolphins OC

I hope that he learns from the most recent game that you can run outside

Much as I'd love to see RR out immediately, I take the new owner at his word that he's giving the staff the season -- I don't think it would do the new group any good to be seen among potential GM & coaching candidates as reneging on a commitment right off the bat. I also don't think the guy who gave the sports world "The Process" is going to reverse himself in the middle of a lost season (from a serious contention standpoint.)

100% agree with the school of thought that stand-up guy RR is going to start dumping coaches in an attempt to keep a job that he has to know is gone. If Harris & Co. were really considering keeping him, there's no way they'd big-foot him like they did at the TDL.

I would be completely on board with getting a young, offensive-minded HC in here. If that costs us EB, so be it -- there was enough smoke around him getting HC interviews and no offers that it makes me think he might not be the kind of guy who can man your sideline for a at least a decade -- which is what you should be viewing as the goal for your HC hire. (Another reason not to give the job to a retread.) I also don't believe his lack of commitment to running is 5-dimensional chess -- if anything, when you have a rookie QB and a shit OL that's doing its best to get him killed, you put more emphasis on the run, both to save the kid's life and to keep defenses off balance and keep them from teeing off.

All that said, this is the best I've felt about this team in years, maybe even decades. What is this strange new scent? Is... is it... hope?...

IDK .. we dont run the ball well in general, dont run it efficiently and will get stopped if we try and run it on known run downs.

Run on 1st down = 2nd and 9 imo

BUT at some point I hope Sam is weaponized to be able to check into a run from the the D showing a 4 man front

Still new for Sam and EB

The receivers aren’t getting as open since the corners can plan with more cushion against our shitty O line knowing Sam doesn’t have much time to throw it

Well, I think Robinson is a perfectly capable running back. He's just not used effectively. They're always trying to send him up the middle, but our line can't open up any running lanes for him. They've got to keep the defense spread out and moving horizontally so that he can find a seam.

He's often running into the backs of linemen and getting nowhere when a hole is opening up just a few steps in one direction or the other. Le'Veon Bell would do well here, because he had a way of letting the play develop and finding the hole to dart through it. Robinson is more of a downhill runner, and it's more important for the hole to be where the play is designed for it to be. Failing that, moving outside is the way to let him find a lane imo

Obviously he did most of his damage catching the ball Sunday. But he had two strong runs when they got it moving to the left and let him pick a spot.

I want to see more of that.
