It’s not open to debate, lol.

Past 60 years….Riggo’s run, followed * distantly * by “The Head Butt”.

In all seriousness, 2nd imo would be Green’s chase down of Tony D.

The clip on this tweet says it all. This fanbase, as a whole, is as dumb as a box of rocks.

That was one of the most iconic plays of my life as a Washington fan. I was five when they won the Super Bowl and two of the most successful seasons in my life as a fan included our star safety being murdered in one and our transcendent rookie QB shredding his knee in the other. I wasn’t alive when Riggins ran through the Dolphins. I was two during the Doug Williams Super Bowl run. I respect the Gibbs era but I’d be lying if I said I remember any more than bits and pieces from it. Any fan under the age of 40 has really slim pickings for iconic moments that they actually remember.

Iconic Moment not play? Still the Riggo run.

The 2nd quarter in SB XXII when DW threw for 4 TDs comes close.

Maybe 3rd might be the Santana Moss 2TD comeback win vs Dallas on MNF in 2005, which younger fans should still remember:

Its totally fair for someone who wasn't alive then to vote for other more iconic moments, but as an old fart who remembers Sonny playing and George Allen jumping up and down with the team in the locker room and being sad at losing Super Bowl VII to the undefeated Dolphins, I can say this with great ease:

There has never been a bigger moment in all of DC Sports then or since, than Riggo's run to seal the SB, followed very closely by Manley/Grant's tip/pick/TD to seal the NFC Championship vs Dallas, at RFK, which exploded like no stadium ever has. I would bet that for anyone old enough, no moment in any DC sports beats those two.

That NFC championship game deserves mention including the "we want dallas" chant from the previous round/game.

What’s worse? The fact that people think a run by RG3 is the most iconic play in franchise history, or the fact that for people under 40, that is the most iconic play? I would say the later.
I just remember sitting back after that run with a feeling I’ve never felt before. I felt like we finally had our own game breaker. We finally had the QB other teams would fear. We finally could go into any game thinking we have a real chance to win. And he wasn’t some bandaid or an over the hill guy whose best days were behind him… he was a rookie that we actually drafted. Something good happened to us! “So this is what enjoying football is like,” I thought out loud. It ruled.

And then, yeah. Back to your regularly scheduled shitty program. Sometimes I don’t believe that season was real.

Superbowl '88.

I was 10 .. wasnt a big Skins fan and actually a Broncos fan if anything. Elway was a stud and I liked their colors. My pop wasnt a football fan but he'd watch the Super bowls, do a little food thing etc.

Became a bandwagon fan during that second quarter .. been sitting on the bandwagon bus last 34 years. 2 years later, huge Skins fan watching the Bills SB.

Yup .. good times.

All great moments…totally forgot about the Boonnell/Moss game. DW 2nd Q, made even more sweet coming on the heels of Sonny’s “first horse out of the gate…” comment. That cowboy NFCC game…I still have, somewhere, pictures clipped from the sports page of that game.

I just thought about Green returning the punt for a TD against the bears, hurdling some dude, and clutching his ribs the last 10 or so yards.

Ron is such an idiot. Let's give the DC/National press something to latch onto. You would think he's a rookie coach rather a long-time veteran.

Bullshit Ron more like it.

why is this list so much longer than the other one?
- The Eagles laughing us out of our own stadium the night we announced the McNabb extension with a Vick to DJax bomb setting the tone on the opening play.
- John Beck’s only completions in a game coming via throws to RBs… which was Mike Shanahan’s first and only shutout loss in his career.
- Cousins season-ending INT at home vs the Giants.
- Gibbs 2.0 calling two timeouts in a row and getting a 15-yard penalty against Buffalo to set up the losing field goal the game after ST21 was murdered.
- Winning a meaningless game against Miami to fall to second overall in the draft and not getting Joe Burrow.
- Haynesworth lying on the field. Actually, just Haynesworth in general.
- Honoring Sean Taylor’s memory with a low-budget wire hanger dummy and pictures with the family in front of portable shitters in the parking lot.
- Detroit snapping their 18-game losing streak vs Washington in 2009.
- Westbrook punching Stephen Davis in training camp.
- Botching the snap on the potential game winning field goal vs Tampa in the playoffs in ‘99.
- Booting Darrell for Deon.

I need to go lie down. Why do I watch this team.

I was 12. I wasn’t really fan of any team at that point. Maybe the Bears because of the ,85 season. I remember teasing my parents after 1 quarter that Denver was going to win. Then the 2nd quarter happened and dropped my jaw. That was the moment I became a Skins fan.

Howell to start Friday night.

I’ve heard starters only playing one series.

That Green run was something. Loved it.

For pure energy adrenaline, I will never forget Green breaking up the 4th down pass to Darrin Nelson in the end zone, beating the Vikings to win the NFC Championship game. That was with under a minute left, clinging to the 17-10 lead. That was nutso.

ho le chit ... I made a bet w my dad broncos were going to win in the first quarter to! lol

I wonder how many kids our age back then became Skins fans bc of that second quarter?

My pop just wasnt a football fan, he grew up in Queens NYC. Caps fan? big time, we had season tickets. Bullets? We went to a handful of games a year. Skins? nope, just not on the fan radar.

I imagine if my pop was a Skins fan Id be a fan by birthright

Most fams in the DMV back then were Skins .. we were Caps fans.

Some front office news.

Harris and Co already spending their own money on operating expenses. I.e. things that cut into their profit, get very little fan recognition or credit but seem to be indispensible with a winning/well built/non penny pinching organization.

Decisive shopper, I like it!

One of the low points for me was watching Jeff George getting dragged around the field by Dallas after a sack while the entire OL stood around doing nothing. Can you imagine the Hogs letting that happen to any QB they protected?

Another one would be seeing Dan Snyder dancing at a bowling alley with RGIII. So cringe inducing on every single level. That Snyder thought he was cool? That RGIII though he was cool? That RGIII was above the rest of the team? It was at that moment that I realized neither of them cared about anything important.

This was another one for me:
