You clearly haven’t looked at the standings. If NJ loses all of its remaining games they won’t get to 90 points and likely miss the playoffs at that point.

Well said my friend. See this guy gets it. It is entirely possible the NJD go 0-18-0 the rest of the way and get no points in the remaining games.

For sure. Team is starting to show a lot of the cracks that made me jump ship to the Rags 5 months ago. Including VV not being able to stop a remote control flying saucer from Venus like against the Wings in the home opener that caused me to jump the ship. Why would anyone give this team and organization the benefit of the doubt with the culture of failure that has permeated through the franchise for a decade now? I wouldn’t be surprised if this joke team with their joke owners who care more about a Don Henley concert in the building than the ice hockey team they own, and their joke GM blew their load on loser Timo coming from loser San Jose, only to not get a single point for the remainder of this season.

You’re all FOOLS for being suckered into the Devils hype machine! I’ll stick to watching my Rags and REAL WINNERS who’ve won before like Tarasenko and Kane. And a head coach that has been to the finals in the last 5 years or even 24 years unlike that loser Ruff and his puppet minions like mr. DUI on a golf cart who lost his job for a scab like Paul Maurice.

Someone @ or DM me when this stupid team is eliminated from playoff contention so I can come back here and laugh at all you suckers. None of you other than DD make any f***ing sense here.

And @My3Sons for having the one sensible post aside from the two of us, who seem to be the only consistent voices of reason to step foot on this sorry Devils forum. I respect DD because even though he still follows this failure of a franchise, he’s still sensible unlike the lot of you.

See you on the golf course LOSERS!

If we lose Thursday, even if we play well, we'll be seeing all kinds of takes in here. Can't wait. ffs.
It’ll still beat December when there was actual reason to worry about anything other than health before mid April

Because people were expecting a win 100% in the Timo debut and the Toronto f***faces played spoiler again, this time without the refs help.
The way we lost it makes for the tone of this as well. Blowing the lead and then losing it with seven minutes and just under 5 left respectively made me want to throw things at the TV. Careless shit plays.

If we’d just laid a “first game back from the road trip” egg, there’d be a different kind of disappointment . Probably more warranted disappointment but less emotional. Losing on 2 goals like that when we seemed to be locking it down was an especial drag.

Nah, as I said, it's not a single game thing. It's constant and it sucks that this young team never gets the benefit of the doubt from its fan with what they've accomplished this year.

A lot of it has to due with how beaten up this fanbase is from the past decade. I agree with you that this team shouldn't be criticized for teams of the past but it's just the thinking the shoe might drop on them as dumb as it sounds.

He's now at .907 Save %. Below his first two seasons which were both .908. Strange but true.
Pretty likely he’s just what he was in Washington. Just an average goalie. No better and no worse.

Not sure if a slump or if he’s hitting a wall in games played.

He had a similar slide last year as the season went on.

He was a .919% after 31 games and finished with a .908% in 42 games. He was actually a .921% after 27 games.

The team has 41 wins and will most likely end up close to the team record for wins, most likely beat it. The shoe didn't drop after the team won 4 out of 13 in December.

There's no reason to get all pessimistic after every single loss lol.

There’s also the Ranger first round boogaloo staring at us in the face and the over the top desperation to avoid it, I wish we all had guyvic’s confidence that we run circles around them cause their chemistry is f***ed but those series are almost always pick ‘em, and every game we’ve played this year has been a coin flip.

*intro to the sopranos*

Two empty net tip-ins, a Marner breakaway, dogshit effort letting Matthews walk in (idgaf about being on the PK) with absolutely *NO ONE* on him.

Obviously he’s been going thru it, but I question if anyone who pins *tonight’s* loss on Vitek knows what the f*** they’re talking about or if they even watch hockey.

it wasn’t so much this game as the last few before it. He’s been giving up 4 goals every game for the past 5 games. Maybe the LA game was only 3?

He’s been giving up some bad ones in most of these games too.

Not so much tonight, but I thought he played goal 3 pretty not great. He might have overplayed that one a little bit and gave himself no chance to get over. He’s also been very scrambly, current Jonathan Quick-esque but that was last game in Arizona.

That's another thing lol, we're a better team than the Rangers. Being scared about facing them in the playoffs is quite something, especially how we've played them this year. And if they beat us, it won't change a peep for me in regards to how the season went. We're a young team just turning the corner, we need to go through this. A rivalry series has to be exciting for this team.

Right which I agree with you, it's one loss in 82 games to a very good Leafs team. The signs of them doing something like this was prevalent in Arizona so they finally paid for it.

I honestly couldn't give a f*** about NYR, lol. They should be equally worried about us since we're their worst matchup.

I'd like to see Schmid get more work, and see if it's a case of more games than he's used to, wall thing. Otherwise it seems to be the law of diminishing returns.

That was on Bahl the most tbh, Severson had to catch up the Leaf on a breakaway and it left the backdoor open.

Posted this in the Team Discussion thread, but thought I'd share here.

The 2008-2009 team, which has the most W's in team history, had a 41-19-3 record after their 63rd game, for 85 points.

We're 41-16-6 for 88 points after game #63

Perspective. Actually f***ing wild lol. Love this team.

That’s also two games in a row we’ve mismanaged a lead at the end of the game. Blew one in Arizona too but the OT made us forget it. I don’t know where are heads are these past two games. So the old Devils Fan Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is in full evidence in the post game thread. Bummer. There is no joy in Mudville. Mighty Casey has struck out.

Tbf, that 2008-2009 team lost Marty for a really long time. Every Devils fan thought they were cooked once he got hurt vs Atlanta (sorry @Rhodes 81 for the reminder lol). I'm not sure if there's a good comparable in my fandom since that was ironically my first year as a fan, maybe the 93-94 team is a good comparison for the day 1 fans. (Hopefully not the same ending lol)
