Vanacek? Which one of those goals was he supposed to stop?

The three tip ins from right in front or the blast on the PP from through a screen by one of the top scorers in the league?

We're still goalie-shaming on here?

If anything, Samsonov made it closer than it should have been.

TML amped it up on the second and third. That was an intense game and the Devils need to know they need another level. I bet the Devils get the DTWOmeter...but it's a loss.

I would like to see the timo Hughes bratt experiment continue a bit.

Leafs definitely have more sandpaper than they’ve ever had. Depending on their goaltending, this is their best shot at going on a run.

Vanecek has SUCKED. What a careless play by Meier. Also get Meier off of PP1 until they’ve practiced more. He’s trying to do too much and just gets in the way. Pathetic loss.
He's an average goalie. That's all. Not bad, not good. Just average. He's pretty much right where he was in Washington.

The sad part is I don't know if we have a particularly good goalie on the roster.

Could be Schmid.

You want to clean it up, but lapses will happen. Seems like we're getting 0 saves on them though.

Lapses should happen rarely. They can't happen 20 times a game. We won't always be able to outscore those lapses. Siegs has to remember how to play hockey again. Him being garbage is really hurting them.

It's not a panic thing. But it is something that will burn us in the playoffs as others have pointed out. This season has been a resounding success regardless of what happens in the playoffs, but these games show the team is likely not ready to compete for a Cup yet.

This is moronic. “Who gives a shit if they outscore their opponents by a greater margin together because Jack’s ptzzzzzz look better when he’s away from Bratt”.
Yea it's moronic to care about them not producing because the advance stats are good. This right here. If anyone ever needs to ask.

I thought they were starting to gel. Would like to see that line stick together too.

Vanecek’s last 5 games:

.840 SV% 4 GA
.862 SV% 5 GA
.737 SV% 4 GA
.864 SV% 3 GA
.765 SV% 4 GA

Sound some alarm bells. Our goalie f***ing sucks again.
I'm pretty sure it's just a slump and he won't be this bad the whole time, but who knows how long it'll go on for?

I still think he's better than Blackwood, but I'm starting to really hope Schmid is better.

This is a very real thing. New top guys coming in takes time to adjust.

Especially when he's being played with Hughes, who has not looked himself of late.

I'm confident they will put it together and develop chemistry in time for the playoffs. There are times you can see flashes of it, but the scoring isn't quite there yet.

Severson played a pretty good game then he gets caught outside the hashmarks on that game tying goal with 5 men back against Toronto's garbage 3rd line. Such soft coverage.

Hughes needed to get benched, I don't care if the points have been there since he has come back he hasn't looked good at all. 5 minutes left up by a goal and him and Bratt are doing drop passes, constantly on the wrong side of their man. That isn't how you win in the playoffs. If this was game 1 the momentum would have shifted so hard in Toronto's favor it would crush NJ.
