agree. when you watch our PP, you used to not really be excited about anything, but now you sit just waiting for Gelinas to get a one-timer off

I've liked that he doesn't seem to force it, though. He's been adept at realizing when another play might be better, but doesn't shy away from taking the shot when the situation calls for it. And he decides quickly, which is a significant plus.

Time to give another defender some love, despite his defensive flaws.

Zids is 3rd in the league in defensive scoring. I know we're only 11 games in, but I never EVER would've seen that coming.

We! Are! Jersey!

 so lame. 'its about who you are. its about where you live. its about what kind of toilet paper you wipe your *** with.' in a monotone, dull voice. its like listening to cloris leachman read a recipe for pound cake, ingredient by ingredient.

he needs to play limited minutes, and really be there for PP opportunities. the guy turns the puck over like it was a clause in his contract. yes he's good offensively but at what cost?? at what cooosssttt

he's this year's kovy, plays almost the full powerplay, and has 4 powerplay points. 4 at even strength already is impressive though. he's been on the ice for 13 goals this season, and had a hand in 9 of them. it's clear he creates offense.
if i didnt have class tonight i would be there. 9.95 a ticket right now
even cheaper than the thrashers nosebleeds used to be. that's insane.

Zids offesnively has been very good, more so when you look at those zone exit numbers and see he has been one of our best players in getting the puck up the ice.

On the PP, and in general he seems to be trying to get more creative at the point. He isn't just slapping the shot in which almost always misses. He is making smart passes, or coming in deep, creating space elsewhere. He is being a lot more creative.

Despite Tampa's record they've been a mediocre to below average possession team so far. They're also 4-0 in OT/SO play.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're out of the playoff picture in two months.

I wouldn't be surprised either. They usually start out every season strong too. They were good after the first 10-15 games last year too before plummeting, same with the year before. I think it's gonna take some underachieving from Ottawa or somebody else in there for them to make the playoffs. They're also getting the best goaltending they have had in years. I don't expect that to last either.

Do people track turnovers? I tend to think it is overblown in regards to Zids.

I am sure there are stats kept somewhere, and I think they are overblown in his case. His real problems defensively is positioning in the defensive zone. He gets caught a lot, or gets blown by easily. Also he is good for a penalty a game. That is something that can stop and should as well.

2-0 in games on saturday nights
2-0 in games where i get drunk
