I don't usually discuss player's personal lives. But I think it's better to have a captain that's married with kids. It matures a person.

Max is a pretty good example of this, he said after he became a father it put things in perspective and made him more mature with the added responsibility.

I really don't get the hate for DD. He's not a #1 center, but there aren't many of those. He's a great third or second line player that MT misuses. He doesn't suck other than taking up PP minutes but that's not his decision. He looks great out there when he's not on the first line. He's not paid like a first line player. I realize the coach does some odd stuff (sucks?) but why blame Desharnais?

He's not a great anything, especially not centre. He's not an NHL centre - he lacks the fundamentals. I've said it over and over and over and you see it with your eyes. He's a special tool that can help but he's not a player you rely upon.

I just hate his style of play and his size.

He's 25 and he's growing. No way the team gives him $9.5M a season if they think of him as immature. He's been a leader and his "attitude" and presence are part of building that fear factor.

You can focus on a the few incidents where he's not completely mature, but did you ever watch Pronger (widely accepted as one of the best captains in recent history)? Plenty of incidents, but plenty of swagger / presence.

I never mentioned suspensions. And Pronger wasn't known as a diving dirtbag like Subban is. Again, don't get defensive over facts - you can't compare CHRIS PRONGER with PK Subban. It's Pronger for ****'s sake - he's a legend. Subban is still young, he might grow up a bit but he is NOT a captain right now.

I get that people hate DD, but comments like this are so laughably wrong and indefensible. It's nothing but blind hate

Against the Rags, for instance, his sideshow with Kreider lasted till midway in the 2nd. He wasn't focused on playing the game. You see Markov, Weber, Suter or Chara lose it here and there (and trust me, I LOATHE Chara) but it's only for a moment or a shift, NEVER as long as PK clowns around.

There's some truth there, but we need to recognize that there are no players left in the league that emulate Beliveau.

There are very few players who practise sportsmanship and even fewer who are gentlemen.

We're a couple generations away from that mindset, regrettably.
