So:
Greene-Larsson
Zids-Fayne
Volch-Harrold

This is a good looking d core imo. There's a puck mover/non-grenade handler in every pairing. I like how the forward lines look too.

TG has the pairings as:
Greene-Fayne
Volch-Larsson
Harrold-Zid

for morning skate

The more I see Zajac on the third line the more horcoff esque his contract seems

It was another bad Lou contract reacting after new CBA and the loss of Parise. Too Long and Too Much Money. Lou will probably trade Zajac at deadline to adjust for next season's cap reduction and flexibility to sign UFA and RFA.

Judging the contract before it even kicks into effect

And no, Lou is not Paul Holmgren he isn't going to trade a player he just signed long term with a NTC before it kicks in who obviously really wanted to stay here.

Not going to find that fantasy/nhl13 style GM here in Jersey.

There was a moment when Devils were scared they might have only 5 D tonight when Zidlicky wiped out in morning skate, but he's OK.

Skimmed through some old threads and found the one about Volchenkov signing here. He was billed as our best physical D-man since Scott Stevens and everyone was happy to have him here.

Yea. That obviously didn't pan out.

Nope, not at all. It's like he completely forgot how to hit.

TGfireandice: Devs' lines at morning skate: Ponikarovsky-Loktionov-Kovalchuk; Elias-Henrique-Clarkson; Matteau-Zajac-Bernier; Carter-Gionta-Kostopoulos.

Line 1: We need one of these. That's not a 1st line.
Line 2: I like that line a lot.
Line 3: Matteau should be playing Jr's but that's not an awful line. Zajac is not a #1 center. Who signed off on that contract?!
Line 4: I wish they kept Carter-Gio-Bernier on the same line b/c if we're losing that's what going to happen anyway.

Honestly, do we really think this Kostopoulos is better than Josefson? Who by the way, is on the PK and PP and is super skillful. I really wish this kid would be given a more solid chance - he's an NHL player and his development and confidence are being squashed by this team.

Alright boys, Let's kick this pig!!!

What the hell? I hope you're not serious.

Some words of wisdom. Jj really deserves to comeback to the team.

Josefson is 21 years old. There's plenty of time for him to improve. He has no confidence in his game, and he's in the AHL trying to find it.

Deboer has shown that he doesn't handle young players all that well. henrique has done well because he's just too good but Pete doesn't bring out the best from the lesser skilled ones

i just think that he can be used much better using a big shot or sneaking in off the point for rebounds than on the sideboards or in front. guy needs to use his underrated shot

Ok, well I'm open to anything - I have to be honest and say that I've never recognized his "big shot" but I am going to be paying attention to that detail.

You mean he wasn't able to gain confidence on the 4th line with Barch, Janssen and Butler? :shakehead

he doesnt shoot enough i think, but he was on the point the last few devils games i went to live and he was distributing the puck really well, and dont quote me on this but im pretty sure he scored too. maybe its just because its live that his shot looks amazing but its worth a try

It's probably that I haven't just noticed. I have season tickets and haven't noticed it...

Travis just needs to get his confidence back. i say, put him on the point and make him shoot, he always seems to do well up there from what i've seen

This is actually an intriguing idea. Put Kovy down in the left slot, Zids on the point with trav, Henrique at center, and Elias out there. Give that unit a shot Lou! Maybe that unit could get both Kovy and Trav going.

edit: And maybe give Larsson a shot? Cmon Lou he's earned it!

You mean like loktionov? Bottom line is josefson was bad this season. He's young and has time to improve.

We should have a screening process for new users =/

Just because Loktionov scored 2 goals on the fourth line in 2 games we act like he was the greatest ever. 1 of those goals came from a faceoff that he won by himself and the other was a cycle play, dont act like he made our 4th line as good as a 2nd line. How would he have faired over the course of 10 games on the 4th line? Probably just like everyone else who plays on that line.

Tired of reading this crap.
