Jonathan Quick also won his game 😂
I think I saw that game was 3-0 Vegas after 2 periods. Then they showed the score of that game on the ticker on our game and it was 3-1 Vegas in the 3rd period.

I checked the app during one of our TV timeouts or maybe it was during our 2nd intermission and I saw it was 4-3 Vegas with about 4:50 left in regulation. I thought for sure the Habs were gonna tie that one.

Looks like Quick let in 3 goals in about 6.5 minutes in the first half of the 3rd period and the last two came about 35 seconds apart.

I bet that was a real nail biter.

Sorry but this game is an embarrassment.

We got the 2 points but the fact that we needed OT to beat this shitty team in this shitty building really pisses me off.

This is the type of game that has the pundits dismiss this team's chances in the playoffs.

They'll be all like "if they struggle to beat a Yotes team, they've got zero chance to go far against better teams....hurr hurr hurr".

This is dramatic. f*** the pundits.

It's the NHL. Any team can beat any other team at any given time. We won on the road in a peewee rink. Move on to Toronto.

They beat Boston at home. They have beaten Carolina and other top teams. We won, the end.

No one will remember this game in 6 weeks. That said the commonly cited reason of concern, the goaltending, is becoming an actual reason of concern.

Hopefully this is just a blip.

I choose to view it as us mastering the fine art of playing down to your competition and still winning.

Let’s be honest, it’s gotta be hard to take the game seriously when you’re playing in front of 5K fans at a college rink and half are fans are Devils fans to begin with.

There’s a reason AZ actually has a decent home record this year.

Thought timo had a good game offensively

Defensively he got lost a couple times but that’s expected going into a new system

Him,Hughes and Bratt were off just a half step but once again expected. He’s a physical wing that can lay some hits and get some greasy goals for the team. A plus acquisition

More like "feeling sorry for a shitty team and deciding to play with two hands tied behind your back".

After what the Canes did to them, for the Devils to need OT......it's just humiliating.

Sorry, man.

We couldn't even muster to match the same amount of goals as the Canes did.

And this outing by Vanacek is starting to worry me.

My memory isn't that great, but didn't the '12 team have a ton of OT games?
Yes

They didn't win too many games in the OT period (that predated 3 on 3) but they won A LOT in the shootout, particularly in the first half/first 2-2.5 months of the season, if I'm not mistaken.

That team might not have made it to the shootout too many games if there was 3 on 3, as they were older and a slow team.

Kovalchuk and Elias would have been fun to watch in 3 on 3. Parise would have been pretty cool in 3 on 3 back then, but there were too many slow pokes.

I can imagine DeBoer throwing Zubrus out there (remember the horror show that was Zubrus and Clowe on the ice at the same time in 4 on 4 at the end of DeBoer?), Sykora, Salvador, Clarkson, guys that were just too slow for that type of hockey or just couldn't skate.

And we had absolutely no defensemen that you could really wanna use in 3 on 3 back then. Maybe Zidlicky after he was acquired.

Let me repeat that I'm kind of concerned with VV right now.

This was the game that was supposed to restore his confidence or whatever and he gave up 4 goals.

4 goals to THIS rinky-dink team.

I believe kovalchuk holds the record for most shootout goals in a season still from that year
