Putting Sharangovich-Boqvist-Holtz out there for 6 mins a night isn't putting them in a position to be successful. It's a waste tbh. Send Holtz back to Utica, put Johnsson in.

Haula-Hughes-Bratt
Tatar-Hischier-Zetterlund
Wood-McLeod-Mercer
Sharangovich-Boqvist-Johnsson

play 11-7 instead

.....this is my schtick and i'm sticking to it.

the only game he would have a right to be in is the 30th when they wear RR ver.2 ....he is the only player worthy of wearing that hilarious clown uniform

Ah, so just cut out Blackwood's two best (and healthy) seasons in the NHL because Vanecek was in Hershey posting a .907 sv%. Very sound and objective analysis.
This is kind of like (I'm not gonna use Schneider, I'm not gonna use Schneider, I'm not gonna use Schneider) saying that Brodeur's decline seasons don't mean much because his career averages were way better.

Now, yes, Brodeur was OLD at that time, which Blackwood is not, but there comes a point where you have to think Blackwood might just be closer to what he was his last two years than his first two.

62 games is a pretty good sample size. It's close to half his games played in the NHL and to this point it's been a tale of two careers. Not sure how much more time you realistically can give him to show it's not. The racetrack is about to run out with another multiple million that he's due.

Yeah but I think the trend is going to be that third period and also having got up 2 goals twice on the Rangers there.

Yet you are right we’ve got some stuff to fix and that got the Rangers to OT tied with us.

They won the special teams game and it’s why they won the game. We gave up a power play goal and our 2d power play was awful.

On the penalty shot I wish Jack has just gone straight down the middle with speed and made an instinctive play shooting the puck. You keep the initiative that way. When he swung wide like that, at slow speed, and then carried the puck in too deep, he gave up the advantage to the goalie. That played right into Shesterkins hands.

If we go up 4 - 1 there we win this game.

The Rangers tying goal was also a series of bad mistakes. On the shift right after the Rangers got their power play goal, Ruff might also have wanted the McLeod line out there to change momentum, instead of Boqvist and co. That’s on Lindy a bit imo.

OT is then a crap shoot. Wish Vitek had made that save.
Was thinking the same thing on Jack's penalty shot. We also got out goalied tonight. Which isn't a shocker or an excuse. Still should have one and this team knows it. They expect to win this year. Not just trying and then hoping to win big difference this time around.

Yup just when is that happening... I hope soon.

And i think i must be on ZBC's ignore list from some time long ago :(. Was curious what he thinks on Bratt more.
I think I'm on many other's list, too, so don't sweat it. :D

Bratt has definitely cooled off big-time.

I really wish he'd start being a bit more selfish and start shooting the puck.

It is possible to read opinions that differ from yours without acting like you just found out Santa Claus isn't real.
oh shut up.

I am not saying Blackwood isn't elite as if I'm just pulling that viewpoint out of my ass here.

I am going by a way larger sample-size of the PAST SEASONS of Suck he's given us.

He is NOT nor ever will be ELITE and I'm beginning to think you're just being contrarian just for the sake of being contrarian to the Blackwood argument. 🧐

If Blackwood should revisit his level of play from those seasons then everyone would be a lot more positive about him.

Blackwood playing in 7 games and getting injured in two of them, with the second injury keeping him out since 11/3, has made me a bit of a skeptic about him.

But that’s enough goalie talk for here.

I’d like to see Zetterlund back with Nico and Tatar and Bratt back with Jack and Dawson. It probably throws the other lines out of whack though but Zetts deserves more ice time.
Jack’s line created two goals tonight. I’d leave them be. Hischier’s line created one. I probably leave them intact for now.

If we refocus and bear down with more determination in the coming stretch this game has some very positive lessons for us. That’s what I expect to happen. It would be right in character for this team this season to react to the last couple games by raising our level of play. That’s what I thought I saw happening in that 3d period.

I expect a great game from us tomorrow night.
