Dude, I have such brain fog

I heard Alain Nasreddine and kept thinking it was Alain Vigneault

They're saying ''It'll be Alain Nasreddine's first game back'' and I'm like ''Wait, Vigneault is an assistant this year in Dallas? Really? Wait a minute, so they got DeBoer, they got Vigneault and don't they have Alain Nasreddine too?''

And then I was like ''Duhhhhhhhh! THAT'S WHO THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT!''.

plenty

seems like a you problem, tbh

But do you really feel that Bratt is playing well also? I dont really either.

Hes hardly shooting. He hasnt really played a dominating game that he started the season with. Thats what others are edging at...

Is he playing bad? No, but relative to his start... Yes. That game-breaking feel is diminishing recently.

I agree we looked good for a lot of 3rd but something feels off. Their confidence looks more like last season in finishing again.

I know last years team would flatly give up this game but.... Getting frustrating. We spoiled with amazing early run but hope this new trend goes by the wayside...
Yeah but I think the trend is going to be that third period and also having got up 2 goals twice on the Rangers there.

Yet you are right we’ve got some stuff to fix and that got the Rangers to OT tied with us.

They won the special teams game and it’s why they won the game. We gave up a power play goal and our 2d power play was awful.

On the penalty shot I wish Jack has just gone straight down the middle with speed and made an instinctive play shooting the puck. You keep the initiative that way. When he swung wide like that, at slow speed, and then carried the puck in too deep, he gave up the advantage to the goalie. That played right into Shesterkins hands.

If we go up 4 - 1 there we win this game.

The Rangers tying goal was also a series of bad mistakes. On the shift right after the Rangers got their power play goal, Ruff might also have wanted the McLeod line out there to change momentum, instead of Boqvist and co. That’s on Lindy a bit imo.

OT is then a crap shoot. Wish Vitek had made that save.

mini slump observations:
- Rangers were dumping and retreiving better than many. I would be curious to see zone entries stats. They were checking Siegs, Marino, Sevs and Smith pretty hard.
- PP2 need major work. Their decisions, precision and movement is completely defective
- Haula needs to swap with Yegor. Yegor is wasted on that third line. BoQuest is a modest puck winner. Holtz is not. Haula, maybe makes some space for the Swedes
- Siegs looks like he's skating a bit slower. It feels like F1 is closing on him faster than in the past

They are still dominating stretches of play, but just not finishing the way they were earlier. I'm not too worried...except PP2. That looks completely broken.

Can't believe people have given up on Blackwood

He's a good goalie who never played for a good team until this year where he got injured. Let him prove himself, he's better than Vanacek.

Season are full of highs and lows and mediums. Unfortunately I think that our high was so high that it warped some of you into think we should win by 3 goals and out shoot everyone by 20 a night. These type of games are gonna happen. They win tomorrow and take 3 out of 4 points and it’s all Gucci

But he's hurt all the time. Lower body soft tissue too. He is an enigma because I'd love to see him fully healthy.

They should have won this game but there’s some of the crap that tanked us last year creeping into their game.

You can dominate all you want with the shiny stats but the attention to detail isn’t there on the back end.
In the Broadcast, Matt mentioned how Bratt was like all "attention to detail" blah blah blah....

Maybe they were paying attention to the wrong detail?

Division lead shrinking quickly before our eyes. Like I’ve said for the past week, this team has been in an extended run of bad play.
This seems quite irrational. There was no way they could sustain the level of play from a few weeks ago. If this is their rough stretch then the team is in good shape, because they still haven’t looked terrible enough to get significantly worried.

Part of this is they’re playing better teams now who have also had time to make adjustments against the devils. Let’s see how the team responds and performs over the coming weeks.

What another miserable loss. First to NYb, next to the Rags. We’ve put them in a playoff spot now with this sad sack of showing at MSG. Give them credit, they played a fantastic game. Shesty was better than Vitek and Gallant was better than Ruff. He’s still taking it personally that FitzHarrjs wouldn’t meet his demands but opted to bring in Rags reject assistant Ruff in for a much more frugal cost. The NJD have been paying dearly for it for going on 3 years now.

You are always spot on DD. I just wish you would get it over with and convert with me to the Rangers already.

I’m so proud of the boys tonight. But it was a walk in the park over this fraud fluky Devils teams.

Enjoy it losers!

Wow. No mention of Deboer having his boys ready to go tomorrow night? Disappointing.

It will be a good test because Pete’s teams like to play hard against the boards and are stylistically the opposite

They could definitely use an energy player in place of Holtz. I’m not giving up on the guy, but he needs more time in the oven. And Zetterlund is good enough to be on a more skilled line than with McLeod, though he’s also excellent in that role.

Please provide your evidence.

Coming into this season, before VV was a Devil, he had a better SV% and GAA than Blackwood has in his overall career.
When healthy, Blackwood put up a .918 sv% and a .915 sv% in his first two seasons. Vanecek has not even approached that until this year, he had back to back .908 sv% seasons in Washington. Blackwood's last two seasons obviously came down, but we all know the covid/injury issues and he was on a much worse team than Vanecek.

Talking pedigree (junior + AHL seasons), Blackwood's are substantially better (see below).

I'm not even trying to turn this into a Vanecek bashing session, because I like him in a 1B role. It's just more support for my belief in Blackwood's ability.
