Except there’s nothing to base this on…Blackwood was a little above average his first two years, way below it the last three and during his AHL time
His numbers throughout his career (especially when healthy) are better than Vanecek’s though, so where are you going with this?

Again, I’m not crapping on Vanecek. I think he’s a solid 1B. I think Blackwood has true 1A upside when he’s healthy. Based on pedigree and athleticism.

Division lead shrinking quickly before our eyes. Like I’ve said for the past week, this team has been in an extended run of bad play.

They played fine tonight, lol. 7 seconds + bad pinch from Siegs = 3 goals for NYR, they also dominated the 3rd but had no finishing ability.

I’ll stand by my opinion that the only goalie on our roster with the ability to be truly elite is Blackwood.

I don't think tonight was one of those games though. Certainly not like the last 6-7 games (Chicago game not included) before this.

Special teams killed us IMO and I'm actually happy we didn't have to utilize either of them in the 3rd period or it could have been a regulation loss.
Agreed, they at least controlled the run of play tonight so it’s a step in righting the ship.

I never claimed Vanecek had elite potential though, just think at this point he’s clearly better and more reliable of the two. The if healthy part is your biggest problem with Blackwood, the guy has Jacob deGrom fragility without the talent

Nothing beats the streak of shootouts where they couldn’t win someone correct me
But weren’t they like 1-12

Blackwood can be a #1, but it's a question if the injuries diminished his athleticism. Goalies his size shouldn't be that athletic.

Agreed, more losses were expected. The concerning part is losing the run of play and xG battle against teams like Washington, Philly and the Islanders. If the underlying play held up and we were just in a rut of bad luck, that would be a different story.
That was going to step back as well. They are getting banged up a bit. That Holtz hasn’t been able to step in and play serviceable 5-on-5 hockey hurts.

And they did come to play tonight after no showing the Isles game, they just made too many costly mistakes
And whether we want to admit it or not, against a quality opponent in their building. Team is freaking 11-1-1 on the road. I’m all for being concerned when its warranted, but this game just doesn’t call for the panic button.

Personally, I have three concerns about the team. A fourth line that is unplayable, a power play that needs to convert more and the most important one is Vanacek looking more like the Vanacek we were expecting than the demigod we got in October and November.

Oh and f*** the power play, it still stinks.

It's almost even worse for us fans this year, because the PP shows flashes of brilliance and we get our hopes up. Such a tease.

At least before, we knew for sure that it was garbage and could safely assume that we were doing nothing for the next 2 minutes when we drew a penalty.

0-13 lol, it was actually an eighteen loss streak over two seasons but the 0-13 in 2013-14 kept our old ass roster from one last playoffs

What another miserable loss. First to NYb, next to the Rags. We’ve put them in a playoff spot now with this sad sack of showing at MSG. Give them credit, they played a fantastic game. Shesty was better than Vitek and Gallant was better than Ruff. He’s still taking it personally that FitzHarrjs wouldn’t meet his demands but opted to bring in Rags reject assistant Ruff in for a much more frugal cost. The NJD have been paying dearly for it for going on 3 years now.

You are always spot on DD. I just wish you would get it over with and convert with me to the Rangers already.

I’m so proud of the boys tonight. But it was a walk in the park over this fraud fluky Devils teams.

Enjoy it losers!
