I do t care that I will get flamed for sayig this by the anti-grit people on here but we will never make the playoffs with this forward roster if we continue to be this soft on the puck and lose as many lose puck and board battles as we habe been for the past few years.
Goaltending and shitty coaching or wrong defensive system ? Yes, we habe those problems too , but still need to not be so easy to play against.

Lindy and Blackwood have been awful for two years, I didn’t boo Lindy but did boo Blackwood because Lindy for his ills professionally isn’t a freaking diva on top of awful results
I actually wouldn’t have booed either in the intros. I’m not that callous (not that I think people are callous for booing) that I’d boo Blackwood in a game he wasn’t even gonna play in, but I certainly would have booed him when they announced him as the starting goalie like when they announce the starting lineups. Had he actually been playing.

Agreed, I’m as frustrated as anyone. Not supporting your team and creating an adversarial environment before the puck even drops at home is beyond moronic.

Yeah i agree here. Before the puckdrop during announcements for 1st game of season was bush league stuff.

I dont mind booing/jeering if play is real bad such as in 3rd period during game.. But not the overall booing before game even begins. It is stupidly adversarial for your own home arena.

Isles had a good coach. We don't.
Right that’s part of the point. If we can get a coach in here who can get this team to play competently and with some kind of system that is effective on all three zones, which will lead to more wins, I don’t give two shits if that means Jack’s point totals have to take a hit.

I don’t even think Blackwood got that many boos anyway tbh, I was listening for them but I didn’t hear them nearly as much as Ruff or even McLeod (and we KNOW why he got boos, I’m actually surprised enough fans followed the news enough to boo him)

Crowd was absolutely in the right to boo the time in the 3rd period. Someone needs to hold them accountable since coaching or management isn't.

Lindy has not been awful. Show me any NHL coach who’s going to win a game with a .750 save percentage. Before you blame quality of scoring chances, the Devils roasted Detroit in xG.

Again, how many games do you think the Devils are going to win with zero points combined between Hughes, Hischier, Palat and Sharangovich?
Okay, fine, but what’s wrong with booing Blackwood

okay, fine on Ruff, but why not boo Blackwood? Even you said so yourself, we lost the first game because he was horrible.

If we can’t boo him, then we shouldn’t be booing anybody, as he plays the most important position on the team and has been the biggest disappointment on the team in the last two years and picked up right where he left off in the opener.

Just got back from the game. What a disaster. I haven't had a chance to read the entire thread, so .....

How loud was the "Fire Lindy" chant on TV?

The third period took about 30 minutes. Talk about mailing it in.

This team is a nightmare. A loss Tuesday to Anaheim may (SHOULD) be the death knell for Ruff. Fitzgerald is playing with fire here and could wind up losing this group (and his job) quickly.

If there are more than 9,000 in the seats Tuesday, I'll be shocked. I don't want to hear about tickets sold. Empty seats speak volumes.

They were fairly noticeable on TV for Blackwood, but not like Ruff.

I’m actually surprised Blackwood would get booed this soon into the season, considering he apparently got a huge ovation when he came back at the end of last year. I just remember either the broadcast saying it or one of the beat writers posting about it.

Yeah that is fine by me. It was more the intro stuff that surprised me from our fans. I mean im not shocked but... I felt it was harsh for new season intros... All the vibe was good for pregame ceremonies. Fans, kids, had good red carpet show. First time in a few seasons...People amped up for game and then they go and boo blackwood, the coach, and i think dougie got some too.... Maybe even sevs but was droned out (sevs and dougie)

The minute I saw Isles 5-0 over the Ducks I was like my god, Tuesday is gonna be Lindy’s Waterloo like losing to the Isles who had a fourteen game losing streak was that for MacLean

That and he never got booed once for the vax stuff so it ain’t that, at least not solely. In fact I know a good chunk of our crowd thought more of him for that.

They were VERY loud after that fifth goal. It took me a few seconds to decipher that it was “Fire Lindy!” And not Fire Ruff.

The boos were very audible during the introductions. They were probably stupid to even introduce him as they’ve apparently stopped introducing the coaches before games start in recent years.

And I remember the first time I heard Fire Hynes chants on TV, he didn’t come back to coach another home game. The next game was in Buffalo and his last. He was fired the next day on the afternoon of a home game before it started.

And someone asked him in the post game (had to be Ryan, only he would have the balls to ask) how it felt to be booed and the fans turning against him lol. He gave a classy answer. I felt bad for him in the presser. He looks and sounds da defeated and ready to give up.

I don’t think it’s moronic, I think paying fans have every right to voice their frustrations.

Now, would I boo him in a game he wasn’t playing in? No. I’d be grateful that I didn’t have to watch him that night.

That’s just me though.

It’s only 2 games. The goalies won’t be this bad every game. There’s got to be some regression to the mean. I understand the frustration cuz I feel it too but can we be a little more measured?
