OT: New Goal Song Talk Part 3

I mean, I guess you had your volume down BG, because its heard after goals 3 and 4 for certain, 3 you had to listen hard for, but it was blatant after the fourth goal. Go watch the replays on nhl.com, you'll hear it.

Just wanna throw this out there. I just watched Mighty Ducks & RRpt2 is both in the movie and it's also in a scene as the goal song when the kids go to a Minnesota Stars game, you see them chanting "hey".

The goal song is changing and this is YOUR chance to submit the song you’d like to have played during the one moment we all relish to experience together. Starting NOW, the Devils organization will be taking submissions as to what you’d like the new goal song to be.

Here’s how it works:

Submit your song of choice
Submissions will be taken up until October 27th at 11:59pm
Over the next three home games, a different song will be played at each game based upon submissions
The most submitted song as of 10/18 will be the goal song played during the 10/19 home game
The most submitted song as of 10/23 will be the goal song played during the 10/24 home game
The most submitted song as of 10/28 will be the goal song played during the 10/29 home game
From October 30th to November 1st, all fans will have the ability to vote on their song of choice based upon the songs that were previously played in the last four home games
The new fan voted goal song will be revealed on Saturday, November 2 when the Devils take on the Flyers
Submit now as 10 fans will also be randomly chosen to receive a pair of Club Seats to the November 2 game which also includes a photo on the ice post-game. Official Contest Rules

I went along with the goal song and chanted 'You suck', and after it ended I noticed a rep was standing behind us and I told him outright 'Bring back RRP2, because no matter what, we'll add 'You suck' to these new goal songs.'. He laughed and nodded his head and walked away. It was a fun game.

They could make it "kiss from a rose" by Seal, and especially if the Rangers or flyers are in the building, everyone is going to find a way to add "you suck"

How epic would it be for Ranger games if the Devils used the Rangers goal song for Devils goals. It must happen. Also, SNA is very good, I'd keep. The "o" part is very catchy.

Yeah. I'm with the Diablos group. Apparently security has been instructed to monitor us and if one member says "you suck" they get ejected and tickets revoked for the entire season.

Insanity. If this is the case I really doubt I'm going to renew if they are going to play fun-police.

You can say I'm "not a real fan" or call me any name you want but I don't want to walk on egg shells if I'm at a game, worrying about saying the wrong thing. That KILLS the atmosphere. This is beyond stupid. I'm there to have a good time, be rowdy and support the team...all the while watching quality hockey. Not to have myself be "watched" by higher ups.

I really hope those who are this strongly anti You Suck are happy with all of this.

Yeah I am completely floored at how strict they are being about all of this. I am a multi-year Viking Army member with the Red Bulls. Come to one tailgate and one game in our section and I promise you it will be the most fun you've ever had at a sporting event. This sadly includes curse words and drinking and funny chants and songs. It's what makes it fun. I signed on with the Diablos hoping to get a Viking like vibe going. I understand in a hockey arena there is a bit of a restriction on how bat **** crazy we can be... but I didn't think it was going to be like this. I will tow the party line because I love this team and I want to be there every night... but wow.

Will they keep fighting the fans on this if it gets stretched out longer over the season?

I think their hope is to use us to get rid of the things they don't like in the arena. They hope we are loud enough that we can drown out any you suck chants or vulgar stuff or the hope that people will go along with whatever we do. I can say that we will do the best we can... but there is no chance that we will influence anyone in the arena to do or say anything.

If THIS is what we should expect from our New Owners, I would rather never set foot in the arena at all.

They are acting like they're our PARENTS when *we're* the ones who bring in the PROFIT.


I dare them to start doing this.....JUST DARE THEM to.

I bet the amount of fans that will start NOT going to games in protest will increase to the point where almost the entire arena would be empty....

If management wants to play hardball with the fans, they better be prepared for the fans to return the favor.


(Of course it's easy for me to speculate since I don't really know how the fans will react but I think it won't be "appreciated", to say the least)

Well I have to stress that the way we were told it seems like it's just us (Diablos). Seems like they are trying to get us to influence the rest of the arena to stop saying anything vulgar. I don't think it's random fans around the building that will get kicked out.... just the Diablos since we are technically part of the arena entertainment.
