New GM Trades and Signings Part 2

We were like 6th in goal against last season or something like that. Would glady drop to 9th and have a better offense. We need to score in the playoffs.

Not sure if 9th is the drop, I think it is much more than that.

As bad as Holl was, he did well in his role for the most part.

Not sure who will be taking his minutes/usage, it is not an easy task.

The forwards we added play much better in the offensive end than the defensive end, I think we will be middle of the pack for goals against, but I hope the high end skill and good offense leads to more possession and maybe that helps with the defensive end.

Holl will be miss on the PK.
As much as I crap on Klingberg signing, he moves the puck quick unlike Holl.
We also have McCabe for a full year which would help.
Domi, Knies and Bert are really taking over Kerfoot, Bunting and Malgin spot from last season opening roster.
Kerfoot backcheck, but Bunting and Malgin really didn’t offer much in terms of defense.
Don’t think it will be a huge difference.
If anything, Leafs got better option on the 3rd line with Domi being the C with most likely Calle and Lafferty on his wings.

How about Nylander (40g)/ Brodie (2g) / Murray for Dube (18g) / Hanafin (7g) /Tanev (1g)? They get the best player in the deal and we get back what we need. They flip Murray for a cow or a horse...bob is your uncle.

With Kampf better as a 4C I wonder if the Leafs would look into getting Toews on a cheaper 1 year deal like Wheeler to play 3C.

Someone has gotta be tested to fit Samsonov. Murray most likely. Which would give us very limited cap space to get a 3C unless we plan to use Domi as that

Refs are the only source of my fear from all these signings: Reaves get suspended for the series after Game 1 in the first round, Bertuzzi after Game 2, Domi after Game 3.

Domi will start as the 3C. Knies and Bertuzzi will be given every chance to stick as the top 6 LW's first.

Like I said in another thread, I love the Bert and Domi signings. But for me, they're analogous to ROR and Acciari rentals.

I hope the core 4 changes - either traded (only Nylander can be traded by the looks of it, and I love Nylander. For me, Marner was the one to move). Or they somehow learn to play playoff hockey and stop being entitled.

Tre has piqued my interest after that depressing opening day though lol

First of all, 2 of those are addition by subtraction, second of all, it's 4 PM

And Reaves is subtraction by addition so what's your point?
Free agents are signing left and right to other teams, you can't just wait around while your list of options shrinks

We will love Reaves 5 games into the season, 2 guys I really want the leafs to pursue are still unsigned (Bertuzzi, Domi)
