Fairly good contract for ROR (a touch more term to bring the AAV down a tad). He's going to get a great (better?) opportunity playing C for NSH. Trotz apparently scouting the Leafs extensively!

what trotz just did is an example of a culture change. although the buyout of duchene was too much IMO; he could have beent raded at 50% retention

But this is what it looks like when a GM is changing the culture of the team.

I guess not everyone wants to play in Toronto like others seem to think they do.

I think there was a time when they seemed like an appealing bet for a veteran looking to win. But that avenue may have dried up considering how unsuccessful the Leafs were 2020-2023.

Oh im sorry I didnt realize I needed to think in lockstep with the likes of you...my bad
No, I'm saying if you want to make an argument at least have facts on your side. Schenn was legit in Vancouver. Flat out ignoring that as you did is wrong.

Ror deciding to leave could be a major indictment on the core and he probably doesn’t believe they have the “it” factor. He seemed visibly frustrated at times with his teammates lack of fight

He was easily worse than all the core guys, so highly hypocritical if that’s the case.

I don’t think Duchene should cost anywhere near that on the heels of his buy out. If he wants to win, he should accept something around 4 max

Considering he was bought out, costing Nashville more against the cap for longer term than 50% retained, it theoretically means his market should be less than 50% of his previous deal (8 mill).

Would be surprised if Duchene hits 4 mill.

I was visibly frustrated with him throwing blind pizzas to the Panthers repeatedly.

But people blame the GM Lol.
Perhaps this is message to the previous GM strategy and 4 forwards making 1/2 the cap and that doesn't leave much room for depth and 2nd scoring.

ROR was clinical of both coach Keefe and some of Leafs star players in the 2nd round.

ROR a Conn Smythe winner looked at Leafs setup currently and thought leaving was better in his long-term interest. Remeber when he was a member of the Blues he saw a deep, big physical team and that is not Toronto.

Nashville or Smashville as they call it, is going to build a real deep character team with Barry Trotz.
