We all saw what Schenn brought and most were pleasantly surprised, however have you taken a look at his last several years? He had a very good couple months in Toronto but can he keep that sort of play up over the course of a season let alone 3? A couple of months in Toronto says yes....a bunch of yrs elsewhere before that says no, especially at that price.

I wouldn’t have gone that high in salary and AAV either but Schenn was pretty good by the time he got to Tampa, won those cups and went on to mentor Hughes. People just had preconceived notions about him being a knuckle dragger when we brought him on because the player type isn’t appreciated for some reason.

It looks like his contract can be pretty much buried if needed so no risk. I have this feeling when he ragdolls other teams stars after they do the same to ours that we will like him in the lineup. I would try to squeeze as much juice out of him as I could and use his size for good....try a byfuglien and tell him to stand in front of the net on the pp, he would be tough to move.
