Definitely should be a target of ours. I’d love to add Trent Frederic and Ross Colton onto our third line.

Oh damn missed this part.

"As we said, Treliving wants to re-sign Nylander, an unrestricted free agent in 2024, as well. But of interest here is some agent history. Nylander’s rep, Lewis Gross, also represents Johnny Gaudreau, whose exit from Calgary left tire tracks on Treliving when he was GM there. So suffice it to say: Treliving isn’t going to allow a song and dance to play out all season with Nylander, who we now have at No. 10 on the trade board. It’s “extension or else” in all probability."

Not sure why TBL and Boston wouldn't at least qualify them and then trade them. They have fairly low qualifying offers so the players won't accept them anyway. I feel like I'm missing something.

Hathaway would also be a decent target for the 4th line but I think he'll get a lot of money for his skillset and whoever does might regret it. Treliving had him in Calgary for 4 years so there is a bit of a connection there.

McBain will be hard to get. Coyotes are terrible with keeping their good players but I think he's one that they probably want to keep.

I liked the proposal one of the posters here had for Colton. Jarnkrok for Colton straight up.

Re-sign Colton to a 4 year, 3.5 million per deal.

I'd actually love this bottom 6. It would be lacking a little on the offensive side, not much tho. I'd put Accari in the middle and Holmberg at LW though.

McBain is not really that good at being a center. He may fit on a wing, but even then, that 3rd line needs someone who can carry the play a little bit more and push some offense. I think if you replace McBain with Robertson, move Colton to center, and then have Frederic on the RW, then you may be onto something.

I also think you swap Hathaway with Lafferty too. I feel like Hathaway's lack of speed could drag down a line that could get in hard on the forecheck but still has the speed to be a threat on the rush.

Or, if Colton is not a center, then have him at RW, get a proper center (could be Monahan or someone else on the trade market, but not sold on McBain), and then if you still want someone more physical, then sign a guy like Nosek for the 4th line instead of putting Holmberg there.

Hathaway is getting more than 1.3, he made 1.8 he's not taking a pay cut

"Max Comtois almost certainly will be moved if they get a half-decent offer."

From the latest trade board at The Athletic. I remember some folks here wanting him.
Comtois makes so much sense for this team. Probably can sign him to around 2M. Can be a really effective 3rd liner, and has shown a full season of being a above average top 6 W. Still very young, always been good on the PK and forechecks very effectively. Hasn't been on a good team in his career really.

Comtois, Knies, Robertson, Jarnkrok (LW/RW) is a pretty cheap, good skating, good forechecking left side to help balance an expensive right side of Nylander, Marner etc. The first three are also young enough to be part of the 'next round' of the this team if they do a retool at some point.

This team needs to be all over Conor Garland.

Not only would he be an upgrade on a guy like Kerfoot because Garland actually has top 6 skill.

But for those of you that want to recoup picks and prospects it sounds like Vancouver is going to have to include assets to move him.

Now it's no secret I'm of the mind set that it's all in time.

But if you can get a player with top 6 skill AND get assets to take him I'm all for that, I have no problem getting better and restocking the cupboards at the same time.

If you can do both by all means do both.

This is an opportunity to do both.

While joining Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill of the Leafs Take podcast, Lucic admitted that the lure of suiting up for an Original 6 franchise could be too good to pass up.

"You can never rule anything out," he said. "Obviously, it's an original six franchise, a storied franchise. I've had my fair share of rivalries with the team and now with Brad Treliving coming in, there's some familiarity there, with him being the GM. I became really good friends with Mark Giordano being teammates with him in Calgary, and he's told me how much he's enjoyed it and how much he's loved being in Toronto and being a Maple Leaf."

"I'm still good friends with Jake Muzzin and he had shared the same feelings and how great it is playing in Toronto and how great it is being a part of that organization. And me, having experienced being on an original six team, there really is nothing like it.. when you're on an original six team, it means something a little bit different and, you know what, if there is an opportunity, I would definitely listen to it. Like I said, you never want to rule anything out and I'm sure I'll be getting a few calls and talking to a few teams moving forward here in the next couple of weeks."

He makes almost 5M for another 3 seasons. Never really much more than a 50 point player at best. He's good player and he's definitely a hard working forechecker but he's small and doesn't play heavy, we have enough of those. He's pretty much a slightly better version of Jarnkrok.

But maybe if he's really cheap to acquire and/or maybe you can dump Murray for him... could be ok.

I've been advocating for Comtois to come in since before last season's TDL.

It makes so much sense it's not even funny, and if he's bought out he represents some excellent buy low potential from a guy who definitely could use a change of scenery.

He brings size, has some skill, and will be a viable LW option for us. What's not to like?

I haven’t seen him play, but I Utube him, he looks like a keeper, git her done Tree……..

I don't think it's about being close to Montreal. It's about playing for the Habs.

Never say never, but the smoke around PLD and Montreal is far too strong to even consider him being an option for the Leafs. And the Leafs have other areas to address than adding another high priced forward.
I can't wait for PLD to ask out of Montreal in 2 years en francais. A la Denis Lemieux.

"Trade me right f***ing now"

Here is the problem as I see it with your suggeston.

Washington just traded the Leafs a 1st round pick for Rasmus Sandin and now essentially you're saying will give you a 1st back and toss in a prospect Niemela and you send us Wilson instead.

For this to really to have worked as you suggest, the original deal should have been Tom Wilson for Sandin and Niemela at the trade deadline. because that is really the trade when combined.

Wilson was coming off a serious injury and wouldn’t fit in under the cap with our other moves.

We’ve gone down to see the Leafs a couple times now, had a great time. Underrated city, we’ll be back next year if the schedule suits.
It's also one of the better sports towns in the world. If I'm a young, relatively good looking millionaire athlete, I'm relishing a chance to be a star there.
