...but it wasn't 55 seconds. ;)

No, he wasn't. You may have looked at your purdy bar graph, I watched the game.
Your commentary is out to lunch.
Jets we’re ok, but lots of giveaways and outshot badly.
And, Stanley was lost and flailing out there more than once. Lots to work on.
It’s ok to celebrate and point out the good things, but ignoring stats that show any negativity shows ignorance.

Wasn't your only commentary (and I quote) about Scheifele... "Turn Over Machine".

After the game he had, and that was your comment.

And you talk about my commentary. Sorry to interrupt your narrative, but if he continues to have this kind of season you may have to find another Jet to hate.

There's no point, guy won't even consider changing his opinion even when all the evidence is against him.

Great 1st, awful 2nd, even 3rd. Great game by Barron. Gus too showed what he can bring, 4th line got more minutes than we're used to but will hopefully get more. Perfetti not playing with scorers showed in the 1st. He made a few amazing plays that Dubois and Wheeler couldn't do anything with. He became less effective as the game went on, which is similar to last year. Dubois was fighting the puck all night.

Great finish by the Jets in the later part of the 3rd. Maybe we aren’t going for the Bedard sweepstakes after all. Helly and 55 back to old form. Our annual cagy veteran pickup in Gagner looks promising.
Still concerned about being out skated in the 2nd period by a team that supposedly tired from B2B game
Trouba gifted us the win with that blunder
Let’s not Boo him anymore

To me, the good definitely outweighed the bad. Considering this was our first game of the season, I am very pleased. Are there things to work on? Absolutely, but we were never going to be the perfect team first game in. We were good enough to win under these circumstances and at this time , and that is good enough for two points. Hopefully the team keeps working out the kinks, but they didn’t embarrass anybody.

Stanley had a great game? What are you smoking? If he was in position, Hunt may not have been able to shoot.

He played a decent game tonight - and being game one under new systems and all, I'll take the win against a very good team and give the guys some credit - all of them.
Usually the downers don't pull out the charts unless we lose - for some it just about finding something to whine about -
BTW, The scorer on the lone Ranger goal was fading away on that goal and left himself with a tough angle but made it work. The passer on the goal spun off his check (I think it was Ehlers) and had nothing between him and the net other than Stan - so Stan was actually playing this the way he should have - he stayed between the passer and the shooter and tried to take away the pass - and that pass barely made it's way through.
I'm pretty sure if this was any other dman, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

What is the thoughts on running a forward on D on PP with. 2-1 lead at the end. It worked out tonight. Are we going To be gunslingers this year ?
I thought the same thing. I understand that it's probably near impossible to switch up from the umbrella, but I felt iffy with just Morrissey back there knowing that the Rangers would push to counter.

I thought Scott Arniel did a heck of a job in his first game behind the bench. Close game in a next goal wins kind of game, and he puts out the 4th line late against a tired Rangers team, and looks like a genius with the move.

There were some hiccups in this game, where synchronism was off, and some sloppy passes partcularly in the 2nd period, but as an ensemble I liked what I saw.

The checking line was outstanding. They won a lot of possession time, Lowry and Barron are going to be a formidable cycle line if they play that way. Both Appleton and Lowry made some very strong plays on the backcheck. Throw Gustafsson in there as another player who did well to limit dangerous chances in a defensive role, who got rewarded for his hard work.

Top line is going to be exciting making plays at high speed. Some real strong playmaking between the 3, but they also gave up the most chances. Scheifele was pretty engaged I thought, minus a few mistakes. Not his best game in the circle.

Liked Perfetti's game at both ends of the ice. Wheeler probably should have buried one, but he played a very disciplined and strong game. Dubois was a little careless, but that was a bigtime play to set up the dagger.

I thought Dillon-Pionk was the best defensive pairing tonight. Lots of good details. I didn't think Stanley was bad, got a bit of a bad bounce on the goal the Rags scored. Made some strong plays out there tonight.

Hellebuyck was the 1st star, which was nice to see him dialed in.

Special teams were good on opening night.

Decision not to put Scheifele out for the hattrick with the goalie pulled was a sign of a coaching change. Arniel put the guys who worked the hardest out at the end, and they did their job.

Bowness said he wanted the new guy in against Dallas, be interesting to see who would come out after tonight. I think everyone did their job.

Nice to have meaningful hockey back. Made for a Friday night that was alright. Cheers!

Well it's good to win the home opener. I thought we played two strong periods and one very forgettable one.

The good: Our shape was much better in the nz and defensive end. We tended to do a good job playing the box plus 1 whenever the Rangers established zone time. We kept them largely outside and limited second chance opportunities. I'm very happy we went back to an aggressive forecheck, it lead to rushes passes and turnovers. I thought offensively We were still a bit out of sorts but that will come with the talent on this team.

Second period we got two cute and created issues with poor turnovers while exiting our zone, through the nz, and at the opposition blue line. This caused almost all of our issues that period.

Players:

Helle: He was fantastic, nothing else to say.

JoMo/DeMelo: Played well tonight but I think JoMo has another gear offensively then he showed tonight.

Dillion/Pionk: Much better by this pairing. I thought Dillion looked much better in the new zone based system. Pionk was physical and much better retrieving and moving the puck out. Jumped in well a couple of times.

Schmidt/Stanley: I didn't care for them yet again. Neither are good enough defensively and we get stuck running around in our end more often then not with them out. Schmidt was just not being smart with his shots and puck movement tonight. Stanley was having trouble reading the play and was caught flat footed a few times. Need much better from our third pairing.

Ehlers/Scheifele/Conner: Dominate first and third periods by this trio but where the worst line in the second as they tried to get way too fancy and force too many things that weren't there. When they are on they are dynamic and hard to stop.

Perfetti/Dubois/Wheeler: I thought Cole played well. He was doing the little things really well, great controlled exits and entries. Sound positioning forced bad plays in the nz and Oz. He also found the soft ice well but needs to hit the net with his shots next time (he wasn't the only one in the top 6 that had that issue). Set Wheeler up for what should have been a goal. Lots to build off of but he was a bit hesitant at times. Dubois assist aside was not very good. Poor puck management and was overpassing all night or making poor reads. He also needs to up his physical game. Wheeler had an excellent night poor finish not withstanding. He was a bull on the walls and looked much fresher and sharp when he had the puck. Controlled minutes does wonders. I also loved his demeanor in the post game. He like Mark seems in a much better place mentally and seems to be really embracing his mentorship role with Cole.

Third line: They played well in the role they are expected to do. Lowry was good defensively and on the PK. Appelton was good as well both ways I thought Barron was just ok.

Fourth line: That is why we got Gagner. Solid night and his skill and experience came through on that goal. Gus with his best game as a Jet, good faceoffs, PK and positioning. The Finn was strong as well tonight.

A goal from the fourth line made me warm and fuzzy inside.

Gagner would be on the bench looking for friends and family in the stands most of the night in years gone by.

Looking forward to seeing Bones behind the bench and continuing to install his systems and get this team playing to his vision.

As @rehf said above, most importantly, looks like this is going to be a fun product to watch this season.
