Ok a bit of bigger look at Tochett.
Tampa: He took over for Melrose who was awful.
While he had Lecavier and St. Louis still playing great hockey. He had a rookie Stamkos that struggled mightily under Melrose. Stamkos did turn it around under Tochett and followed ir up with a 90 plus point year winning the rocket.
If you look at the rest of the team his defense consisted of such big names as Eminger, Mezaros, Ranger and a whole host of AHL players. So he had a far worse dcore then what we had the two prior years.
No forward depth either either only Prospal and Malone being legit top 9 forwards.
Second year and his top forwards performed well:
Stamkos 95, St. Louis 94, Lecavier 70
Then Downie, Malone, Tanguay all with solid second line production.
The issue was once again poor forward depth with no other forward scoring over 20 points.
He also had a rookie Headmon, and a bunch of crap as his dcore.
The team also got crap goaltending (9th worst)
From an underlying metrics point of view were pretty bad but zero forward depth and a terrible dcore don't help.
I don't really know what to make of him, his skilled forwards excelled so on that point alone he likely fits our forwards. No clue on his systems though.
