New arena for 12000 people is built in Almaty (Kazakhtan). A little copy of it (3000 people) is also built on the other side of city.
So there is a chance to have another Kazakhtan team in VHL or even KHL.

Are there any news on Novosibirsk project? Just while browsing through The Siberian Times, I saw a piece of news about a new arena to be built in Novosibirsk, which dates back to May 26. It's supposed to be used in a bid to host U20 World Championship in 2023. Did it start or is it still on paper only?

When there was nothing about them, I called for teams in Krasnoyarsk and Almaty. I am not sure if they will be in KHL but I am definitely happy with the progress being made in those cities. Both are huge with big potential for ice hockey. I mean, what makes Almaty or Krasnoyarsk less appealing than this Kunlun team with no fans? If it's foreign capital, OK; but if we're speaking about high quality hockey with fans in stands, Russian & Kazakh cities surely offer a lot more than anywhere else in Asia.

The new arena was part of the Novosibirsk bid for the 2023 WJC last month, but it'll be in the planning stage through mid-2018 before it gets to construction. More recent article: https://news.mail.ru/politics/27119683/

If you are talking about the ones that I have posted a long time ago, like Cheboksary Arena and arena in Saransk - they have been completed. The one in Lipetsk has been frozen for some time, they should continue soon. Krasnoyarsk is progressing nicely. If you are talking about the small rinks, there are too many. There is also this new arena in Tula for 3000 seats, to be completed in 2018, financed by Gazprom.

But more importantly there are leaked pictures of proposed arena in Novosibirsk.

A recent video regarding Platinum Arena among other 2019 Universiade venues:

- the arena stands are 60% finished;
- decoration's going to start in 2-3 weeks (Jan 9th video);
- once the spring comes (and this will likely be a late spring), the enbankment reinfocement and proximal grounds cultivation will start.

Looks like the project for a new 10000 seat arena is now on hold (not surprisingly, of course):

So, what about the new Samara arena about which I've read in the news today?
10.000 places?

I guess that is the arena I posted some time ago, but again, they just accepted the project and decided that the funding will be from the federal budget, no timeline set.

Is there any development for new arena in Nizny Novgorod? There are news from Ekaterinburg & Novosibirsk about new arenas, but not from Nizny. At least, I am not able to find them.

Nope. No money.

Yeah. Russia plans to build new hockey rinks since 2018. Of course, priority are small rinks for kids, but maybe new big arenas for KHL clubs (Torpedo for example) will be included in the agenda. At least, I read something like that about Sibir´s arena.

The KHL should have arenaes for 18000 or more in the future.
Watching WC now and seeing 18.500 fans in the arena in Germany its amazing but its also a reminder that the second best leauge in the world should also have NHL arenaes

Its about monye but Putin will work this out
