That "Ledovy" palace in St Petersburg. Home arena SKA :)

VTB Arena.

Dynamo really set the bar high. Even their current arena is great as it is and now with this VTB complex as a whole... Wow. Hope this will also help football team, which needs the financial boost even more than their ice hockey counterparts.

Whoo, after 10 long years of conservation, FINALLY a dwarf rink (500 seats) was opened in Kemerovo! Now 180 kids from a hockey school and anyone who wants to play a coupla games won't need to drive 70 km to play indoors.
Meanwile, 5500-seat SKK Oktyabrskiy is still a shopping mall ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good to hear. What happened to the old rink. Energia Kemerov was a Vyshka team 15 years ago, they did have an arena, right?

Edit: oops, I guess I have to read the whole post before responding to it :/

Project for rebuilding existing CSK VVS Ice Palace in Samara will be prepared during this year, seating capacity will be increased up to 5000-5500, works should be ongoing during two years after the project is accepted.

Looks like the project for a new 10000 seat arena is now on hold (not surprisingly, of course):

^^^ Nice job, very clean & contemporary... like the fact that its intimate, not huge, great place to catch a game... but you really have to wonder about financials due to the capacity huh?... any idea what they have in the way of concessions?

Are you talking about the WC? Because I have no idea why would they choose it over the Ice Palace. I don't believe that the WC attendance would have been so low that it would make 12 000 arena look bad. And the financial reasons for such move do not to hold water considering how much they had to spend on upgrading Yubileyniy.

Well, I guess it worked as another reason to upgrade the arena for VHL and MHL teams.

Talks are still ongoing about the construction of 12000 seat arena in Nizhniy Novgorod: project was prepared some long time ago, but search for investors still continues.

Now that CSKA is in the finals, any chance they can play their home games in Megasport arena. It holds 12,000.
Also is CSKA planning to move into megasport next season?

I would say, there will be NO money after such big tournament. Every free € will go to football infrastructure.

May be you are right, but as I see it - there is no money NOW, because they are spending it on arenas for 2018 World Cup. But after that - the same amount of money per year could be spent on other projects - hockey infrastructure for example (among others).

Igor Levitin (one of russian president counselors) said that after 2018 they plan a hockey development program, which includes many Federal Hockey Development Centers.

Like that one, I suppose:

Avangard Omsk hockey academy. 2 ice rinks + hotel. To be completed in 2016.
