It was a totally absurd thing to consider. He’s never coached.
Deion and Trent Dilfer (yeah…not great) came right from high school football to D1 head coach. Eddie George too. You’re hiring those types to be figure heads and bring in recruits not so much coach.

But they at least coached. You don’t go from your couch to FBS. Deion is a bit different because he had his whole mentor network in Florida. Don’t know if Ray Lewis does or not, he’s from Florida so it’s possible he’s in it.

Ed Reed tried to do this and the board at Bethune-Cookman skunked it.

Eddie George went from the movies to coaching lol. Coaching high school is better than not coaching at all but it’s outta be a different sport. Gotta recruit. High school and the portal. Name recognition can do a lot for that.

I’m pretty sure Ray was involved in the youth circuit considering he had four sons. In no way am I advocating for him or suggesting he’s qualified, because he’s not. Just pointing out what the school would be looking to accomplish. The non Power Conference teams have to think outside the box a little in the Portal era.

Ed Reed was an NFL position coach so he was more qualified than all of them. He got ditched because he publicly criticized the school.
