Illegal formation let go on Oregon TD. Seriously it’s Penn State vs Oregon and refs, good luck PSU the rest of the way.

The fouls that you don’t call during a game affect the outcome of the game as much as the ones that you do. The officiating in this game has been pretty one sided. Almost as if the league doesn’t want its school to lose the #1 ranking.
The B1G would benefit with Penn State winning here if we’re talking about Rankings…

That's the thing I'm not sold on with the go for 2 down 14 in 4th quarter stuff. You have no idea what your true 2 pt conversion rate is.

Would be hard to put Texas in after losing to Georgia twice, but I don't know who the 4th team would be.

Maybe Penn State, to be honest. The only non-Georgia team with two "good" losses.
They had never let a 2-loss team into the 4-team playoff, so I have a hard time seeing them letting in 2. I’d have to think Boise State would be higher than 10 in this scenario, but have a hard time seeing them get in without a win over a power 4 team. It could be Indiana as crazy as it sounds.

So does the committee have the balls to keep Alabama out? I don’t personally think SMU deserves to be left out.

Bama lost to Vandy and got blown out by 6-6 Oklahoma, they had their chances and blew it. Give it to SMU
The problem here is that with SMU losing, if you leave them out, you’re penalizing them for having to play the extra game, and the bracket is designed to reward the conference champion. Losing de-incentivizes the risk.

This is what Lane Kiffin was starting a conversation about, that the 3rd or 4th SEC team in the playoff, would rather take their chances and not play as opposed to adding another loss and risk of injuries. Joey Galloway was advocating teams tanking a game so they didn’t have to play it. Alabama, in effect, did exactly that losing to Oklahoma, they were in the drivers seat to be there, not Georgia.

Now, we’re talking an ACC team vs. SEC instead of other SEC teams, and while Alabama has the extra loss, they have a win over the SEC champion - who beat Clemson by 31 on a neutral field. Clemson also has a home loss to South Carolina (Alabama beat them too), who people are pretending has a case. SMU losses to BYU (before the QB change) and now Clemson - the two best teams they played. They do have road wins over Duke and Louisville, and a home win over Pitt, who was ranked at the time before they fully went into the tank.

But we also know the committee hates the ACC, they are clearly the 4th of the power conference in their mind, with evidence being leaving out an undefeated Florida State team last year simply because of an injury to the quarterback and not the body of work.

Welp, bring on the Big Zamboni to WVU.

If that were to happen, any idea when it would take place? Do they wait until after Penn State is out of the playoff? Or is he hired but still coaches the playoff?

I’d imagine he’d stay on until Penn State is eliminated from the playoffs.

I’m actually surprised Odom went to Purdue, that probably is the worst job in the Big Ten.

I watched the night games at 5 AM like the sicko that I am. Fantastic Saturday of football. I would hope Penn St people see that the way they lost this game was meaningfully different than their usual 24-12 test of your will to live.

Oregon
Georgia
Boise
Arizona St

Notre Dame
Penn St
Tennessee
Ohio St
Texas
Indiana
Clemson
SMU

This timeline is hilarious. FSU has every right to be pissed all over again because Georgia is getting the 2 seed without their QB. I'm praising Dabo for doing the right thing and talking up SMU. Texas has ZERO ranked wins -- someone ask Saban if his SMU not having any of those should keep them out take applies to Texas too. The prophecy of James Franklin being the 1st coach to lose a home playoff game is solidly on the table.

Yeah Penn State’s OL dominated the LOS. That usually doesn’t happen in these games against a
good DL/front 7.

If your OL can build off that performance into the playoffs you can possibly make a little noise.

Defense uncharacteristically was the cause of their last night which really hasn’t been the case in the last few years.
