Funny thing is that there’s no offset language. He gets that money fully and then whatever money he gets for his next job.

All because of the @Striiker photoshop come to life.

I’m still surprised they bite the bullet but they were in an unfavorable situation either way.

I don’t know where they go from here. I’m not really crazy about the potential coaching market this offseason. I guess Mike Elko at Duke? He’s probably one of the top names & has ties to the school.

I think Elko is the name, yep.

But of course you know who TexAgs is immediately going nuts for — they want Harbaugh and no one else will suffice.

Norvell & Lanning I assume that’s just their agents throwing that out there for more contract leverage at their current schools. I think Kiffin would be stupid to leave Ole Miss as they seemingly tolerate whatever short comings he has on & off the field.

The thing for me this cycle is it’s seem like a lot of the better potential candidates I don’t know if they can or if they really want to get into the competitive fray of recruiting that comes with a top 10ish job.

Like I think Lance Leipold is a really good football coach but i really do think he’s a guy that might want to coach a place like Kansas over a premier job because you can more so just coach football at Kansas.

Why the rush to fire Jimbo?

The early signing period. If you’re gonna fire a coach now a days there’s really no point of waiting until the end of the season anymore.

I don’t know if you’re talking about the timing or firing Jimbo at all.

I think Jimbo survives based on money owed at pretty much most other places in the country. But the fact that A&M have the deep pockets is pretty much why he’s going. They invested a lot not just into him but his total infrastructure. They might not have the history of other big programs but really nobody has the money or willingness to spend that money like their boosters. So winning 5-9 wins a years isn’t going to cut with the resources being spent.

Leipold taking the Whittingham approach wouldn’t shock me at all. I always wonder how much of those thoughts are me thinking it’s the best possible gig, so I try not to be the first to say that.

Lane seems like he’s got the perfect gig for him until/unless he wants to be the post-Saban guy. Lanning, Norvell and DeBoer make absolutely no sense unless they want the biggest possible check and nothing else matters. The more I see the big names being mentioned, the more I wonder if it ultimately comes down to Elko, Klieman, and Drinkwitz. I don’t think the donors would go for Traylor no matter how good of a coach he is. There’s no glitz there. Vannini mentioned Fleck in his info dump, so obviously I’m rooting for the funniest possible outcome.

Sidenote, but I don’t care how much Dabo won. He couldn’t handle the Bama job. He’s always been this prickly at a place as insular as Clemson. He would get eaten alive there.

It looks like Pittman may be out at Arkansas as well. I wouldn't be shocked if he retires if he's let go.

They’ve been talking about that situation on the Cover 3 Pod all year. Their viewpoint has been his personality/likability there might be enough to safe him this year that his predecessors wouldn’t survive with those results. But I guess not.

I doubt Searels leaves again, but it wouldn't bother me if he wanted to come back were that to happen.

This also reminds me of Searels doing a coaching clinic talking about that Jailbreak Screen they run and in the middle of a play, ripping Tate Ratledge for not finishing blocks. "Look at this. 69 might as well buy a ticket. This should be 6, damn it."

I’m pretty sure they have 4 assistants making over at least $1M per year. Petrino (OC), Addazio (OL), Durkin (DC), & Robinson (DL).

It’s utterly insane the amount of money they shelled out for this whole ordeal. They honestly pulled a Flyers.
