It does have to absolutely be a kick in the nuts for big football programs in the ACC like Florida State & Clemson seeing the likes of Rutgers, Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, etc. getting set to make $90-100M a year off TV revenue & they’re making like $30M something.

wonder how much their basketball programs make. It may be more than football.

was definitely joking. When it comes to Oregon/UW football Im just a bystander though I will root for the ducks. I’ve got a buddy that hates W though and I was channeling his feelings.... like you eluded to with your friends.

I was definitely serious about the rowing though. “The boys in the boat” is an amazing read about the UW rowing team from the 1930’s. Their history is awesome.

Winterhawks all day! You are over in Vancouver, right?

My office is just north of it, most of my job sites take me into P-town and the west hills. Lived in Longview most of my life. I got my wife into Winterhawks games back when we were new, and took our sons to many games when they came along. My older boy got to be the Three stars kid one game!, got a jersey signed by Hill, Bjorkstrand and Petan which made his year. That was a hell of a team.

Anyway, the fanbases of these two schools have had tons of snarl for each other since probably the late 90's. I mostly stay casual but still get uppity and defensive sometimes. The rest of the country probably laughs at all of us, since the midwest and deep south are soooo much more into college football than we generally are on this coast, and usually their teams beat ours too.

Isn’t that where the mill fire was? Hope you were not down wind from it.

I love when the Hawks have good teams and go on runs in the playoffs. Just saw that Sven Baertschi retired. He was on the team when I first moved here and started going.

I was surprised at how popular Oregon football was when I moved out here. Guess an east coast biased thing. The Civil War winner was going to the Rose bowl so that amped it up as well

It was reported a few hours ago Oregon & Washington were gonna stick with the PAC-12 which I’m guessing was a leverage attempt by them.

So we'll have the B1G East and the B1G West divisions and the winner of each will meet and play in the Rose Bowl

There’s gonna be no divisions in the Big Ten after this season. They have a three team protected schedule.

I know. Was just joking how they are basically just absorbing the PAC 12

A decade ago the PAC-10/12 was probably the other conference power shaker with the SEC with making a legit run with adding Texas & Oklahoma. Fast forward to now they’re raided of all their top programs & likely the first P5 conference to fall.

Sounds like ASU and Utah may go to the Big 12 also. So Cal, Stanford, Oregon State, and Wazzu left without a dance partner.

So the Big Ten apparently made like a handshake deal with USC that they wouldn’t add anymore PAC-12 schools beyond them & UCLA initially as USC was adamant about it. However the major players both at USC as well as the commissioner of the Big Ten at that time are all gone thus why it probably went through with Oregon & Washington.

You need a TV following to be a successful independent and none of those school are. The interesting thing with Stanford is they are most successful school in the country in the non-revenue driving sports. Those teams are going to get killed in recruiting though without an affiliation.

As it stands now the Pac-12 Championship still has an automatic bid to the playoff next year. There is some incentive in the short term to create a misfit conference. SDSU was rumored before the shit hit the fan.

It'll be funny if the Beavs win the conference as a dark horse this year and essentially become a G5 team next year.

Not entirely true. The top 6 conference champions get an auto bid.
