No, they're really not as big a deal as you think. Yes, they're a Big Ten team. That said, they're nowhere near as wonderful and magical a program as all the Sandusky State fans would have you believe.

They have plenty of money to travel for non-conference games, but they make more money by bringing in cupcakes to take a beating in Crappy Valley.
Penn State was a pretty big university until the sexual assault scandal towards their throwball club impacted them negatively. I don't think they have ever been the same since considering neutral potential or prospective students. I agree with you that they (PSU) tend to get overrated. Nonetheless, getting to play BC is a pretty big deal, but looking at it, it is an away game for LIU and it is a very early game in the season, which the top universities like BC, BU, Michigan, etc. consider tune-up games until around early to mid-November.

Penn State is still a pretty big university. It's a great place to get an education. Unfortunately, there's a culture there that venerated football (and athletics in general) to a level that allowed unspeakable things to happen.

There are only 62 teams in college hockey, and high-profile programs need to fill their schedule. These bottom-feeders getting occasional games against big programs isn't the big deal you think it is.

Meanwhile, two months from the start of the season, it sure looks like Rick "Rubber Stamp" Zombo is having trouble filling a schedule at Lindenwood:

Looks more like CHN has not updated that page yet

Everyone else has released the bulk of their schedule - maybe Rick is just waiting for a rubber stamp again?
That is the schedule. 28 games, a little shorter compared to last season's 32 (2 of those being the exhibition series with USNTDP). Was going to be 30 with 2 more home games, but the Alaska Nanooks dropped 2 road trips to LU and Providence earlier this summer and scheduled a home series with Stonehill instead.

Ah, I had to go to Wikipedia to find the full schedule.

Looks like there are about eight winnable games on there: the four against Stonehill, two against Augustana, and two against Long Island.

Most people check the school athletics website for the most up-to-date team schedule. But I'll give you a pass, Eddie.
As I tend to say many times a year,

“Be sure to check LindenwoodLions.com for all the latest news, scores, and updates regarding your favorite Lindenwood athletic teams. LindenwoodLions.com is your source, for all you need to know about Lindenwood athletics!”

Does your boss know that you post on message boards while signaling you represent the university?

If not, you should either tell him or better camouflage yourself. There are definitely some ADs and GMs out there who would be highly displeased, even if you didn't reveal any inside information.

Short answer is yes I have nothing to fear as long as I act responsibly. Same as interacting on any social media or in public. As you point out obviously don’t reveal sensitive or inside information, and carry myself in a responsible manner so that there’s nothing negative that could be attributed to or reflect the place of employment, any programs, etc.

Regarding anything LU I just post pertinent, already public info when discussion calls for it.

Not every GM/AD will see it that way. Be very careful.

- Le Moynes moving all sports to DI and AD wants to bring hockey to the school. The current AD was an executive chair at Atlantic Hockey.

- Keene State is making a DIII men's and women's hockey team.

- Simon Fraser still trying to make a DI NCAA program. They are playing seven DI teams this year including Michigan, BU, BC, CC, Robert Morris, Lake Superior, and LIU.

- Maryville would consider a DI move if the club is successful enough.

- Missouri-Kansas City is looking to also consider DI hockey, which would be interesting for a future Summit Conference.

- UPenn trying to resurrect its DI programme by 2025 with endowment money used to upgrade its hockey arena. Supposedly the plan was to be ACHA DI by 2020, which never happened.

There has been no talk of this locally. Simon Fraser just shut down its football program (raising a huge hue and cry) and the university still lacks basic facilities - no on-campus rink, for example - for a hockey program. The current hockey team plays in the BCIHL, against teams without varsity standing, with a lot of ex Junior B players. None of this screams NCAA-ready.

I have no earthly idea why they keep sending the club to get badly outmatched by NCAA teams. Delusions of grandeur, maybe. But they're nowhere close to being ready to start an NCAA program.

LeMoyne is in better financial shape than nearly every other school that has raised the possibility of starting a Division I program. That said, they still don't have a rink, and they'd be hamstrung trying to share the War Memorial with the Crunch or SU's tiny rec rink with the SU Women's team.

Maryville saying, "We'll move to Division I if our club is successful enough" is like saying, "I'm going to turn this parking lot into a golf course because a cow jumped over the moon." What do they mean by success? On-ice success? Financial success? Because one of those is easy in club hockey, and one of those is absolutely impossible.

UMKC has been throwing the idea around for a few years. They're nowhere closer than the first time we heard that. Same with Penn, which has a rink, but it's been falling apart for 30 years.

Here's a prediction: Simon Fraser will lose those seven games by a combined score of 73-6.

There is a Global News video talking about Simon Fraser wanting to go DI.

Considering how many schools we currently have as "we would love to make a DI programme," I am honestly starting to believe that the ones who are building their own arenas are in better shape than the majority of these schools. I give Georgia and Arizona more of a chance going DI than the likes of Illinois, UNLV, Rutgers, or any other of these "we want one" nonsense that we keep seeing.

Got a link for that? I just spent 20 minutes on Global's site and found nothing. Lots of stories about how they shuttered their football program, though.
