I agree with you, but, what if you could swing a deal where you take a bit of a hit at centre but add the #2 RHD they need?

Andreas Johnsson + Nazem Kadri+(?)
for
Brett Pesce + Lucas Wallmark.

Any takers?

Yes, I think I'd take that. Not sure they would though.

Yeah, I added the plus because I’d expect they’d want a little more..

But, it could potentially fill a need for them. That said, Pesce’s age might make him someone they just won’t move.

I would much rather move Melander for a D man. His 7m cap hit out allows for a higher quality player to fit under the cap.

Who here has played real hockey and hasn’t cross checked someone in the face?
I played this great game for 42 straight winters and some years summer also.

I can't count how many times i have seen a "kadri thing happen" because the IDIOT refs let the game ramped up and get out of hand.

There is a reason why that reffing crew got benched for the rest of the POs after that effen travesty of a game.

I feel like I’ve done it a few times, mostly by accident.

Sometimes you’re trying to almost grab at them or punch them, and the shaft of your stick is kind of just.. there. It’s between your hands, and then you put your hands on someone... Inevitably, the stick comes into play sometimes.

It’s a lot finer line to navigate than some are making it out to be... especially in real time.

Cross checks are good, but not to the head. Go get ‘em Naz!

Too many people under value how bad that game was reffed and how/why this all escalated to a cross check, suspension.

You know who did not under value how bad it was???

Those running the league,,,they sidelined that crew for the rest of the POs because of that game.

Context is so important.

It seems lost on at least a few.

you got that right brother.

If this was some calm/normal game where kadri just goes postal, then i would be first inline to scream "get him out"

but this is not even remotely close to the case.

This was so bad that not only did Kadri get suspended but so did the reffing crew in charge of that travesty of a game.

I didn’t even know about the ref crew but that would make a whole lot of sense to me. I don’t whine about referees, but they let that get out of hand.

Leafs were getting punked. Kadri tried to do something about it. He ****ed up this time.

At least he showed up.

Something like that would work. Plus get younger too.

OMG it's so easy.

Lars Eller
JT Miller
Casey Cizikas -
Travis Zajac
Frans Nielson
Boone Jenner
Charlie Coyle.

Do you want me to list all the Western Division players?

Almost everyone on your list is either over 30, making much more money than Kadri, or both.

We haven't even got into comparative point production lol.

35 year old Frans Nielson at 5.250M for 3 years who has put up back to back ....30 point seasons (!)... is comparable to Kadri?

Like I said bud. Get some rest.

Kadri is almost 30! Also you can't handle the fact that I named so many that are better than Kadri (in the Eastern Conference).

You are splitting hairs now.

If I can name this many then you know TOR's pro scouts can name more.

You have to laugh at all the masochistic people who post on HF.

How do you explain a fanbase who goes to bat for Kadri so often and all he does is let them down. Some people just crave abuse I guess.

Can you link to the one with better players I have only seen the one with Eller and Nielson Coyle ect. none of whom are better or even as good as Kadri. Cizikas had a great year, this year, though.

There are teams with worse centers than TOR's and yet they go deep in the playoffs. Toronto does not need to put themselves in the same position next season and have Kadri affect their chances of winning.

They have at one time or another went further than Toronto in the playoffs. They have also missed and/or been swept. They still aren't better than Kadri.

"I still can't name anyone, but I'm going to babble on"

We already have one option... Nylander.

Promote Bracco and throw Moore on that line as the digger to replace Brown.

Bracco - Nylander - Moore

Another option is that Babcock puts 20 mins into the Matthews and Tavares and no longer has to worry about Kadri getting 16. If Nylander isn’t a preferred option, insert a 2 way PKer.

You assume we have Kadri.

He hasn’t learned from any of his 5 suspensions, all for the same thing, including 2 in a row in the playoffs.

Odds are pretty good we don’t have Kadri next year either.

So what, in the sense of it being a reason to get him off this roster.

When the argument is "get him off this roster because he got suspended again"

i say " so what he got suspended"
no more of a negative impact then 2 years in a row of Melander PO no show

Calm thyself. All I'm saying is that let's face it, his trade value has gone down, that's it. A year ago I would have said he's close to untouchable, today not so much. And yes a big part of that is that he got suspended. In the playoffs. Again.

Who here has played real hockey and hasn’t cross checked someone in the face?

The reffing was horrible, no argument there. It's also no excuse for being the only player who couldn't keep it together. Let's be honest, if you were told the game got out of hand and one player lost their cool and got suspended, guess who it was everyone's first guess would be Kadri.

Discipline is a big part of what it takes to win and that part of Kadri's game is severely lacking. Severely!

Huh? We have him. Yeah, he got suspended the last two years. This year rather harshly in my opinion. He was the only one who gave a crap. I think he should have been judged in the context of the game, but the NHL disagrees. I have no problem with him.

Every centre that was still playing after Kadri got suspended was more valuable at that time. You could be the best player ever but if you're not allowed to play, what good are you?

I suppose, first, you look the whole body of work. Because a player like Barkov was on a team that didn't make the playoffs, I wouldn't find him less valuable especially in the upcoming off season. He might make the playoffs the following and if I had the chance I'd want him on my team. Back to Kadri, because he got suspended the last two years doesn't mean he will get suspended again. I am not against trading him if we can make our team better, but I feel the same way with all of our players.
