This was a lot easier to believe a year ago than it is today.

If the guy would just drop the gloves when he sees red instead of doing suspension worthy **** he'd be great but I don't know how I could go into the playoffs against Boston next year and not be nervous about Kadri and his temper.

Maybe he can learn, I guess it's possible. But more often than not, by the time you're his age you are what you are. Agree it will be a sad day if and when he is traded, then again, depending on who we get it might be the best thing for the team.
Have some faith.

Who do we have that can play center. Please do not say Nylander as we saw how that went playing sheltered minutes in the playoffs and when Kadri was hurt. No offense at all and that would be a waste of 7m in cap space.
If we trade Kadri the return would have to be special as his cap hit is great. We would need to sign or trade for another center who can play a solid two way game and the cost would be not much of a savings for less offence.

I understand people being mad at him 100% but he is a key player for us.

It would have to multiple deals or one bigger deal, we'd have to get a centre back and D I guess. And if it doesn't happen then I'll try to have faith I guess but damn it's not easy and when the playoffs start, he'll be foremost in my mind. And if he does it again, like I said earlier, we'd be the laughing stock of the league.

I just wish I knew the answer to the question I posed here a while back - did they do anything to try to help him with his issues? Did they sit him down before the playoffs and tell him what's what? If they did then I'd just give up and trade him and if they didn't, well then I dunno WTF they were thinking. And if they don't do every possible thing they can think of now to prevent this from happening again then there's a big problem in our front office.

I think the unfortunate thing to worry about is can he still be Kadri if we played the Bruins in the playoffs again. I'd be scared that we see a watered down version of himself given the weight of his antics.

He did, it's in his stories. I still highly doubt it, but if it's Kadri for Trouba straight up that's a huge win for us in my opinion, as long as we can lock Trouba up to a decent deal.

If it’s true, big win value wise for us. Hell, I’d be so inclined to move Trouba (as he may not want to be here either) for a 3C++ and use that to upgrade elsewhere.

Jesus, talk about delusional.

Kadri got heated about the knee and knee, lost his temper, and did something to make himself feel better. Just fight Debrusk. If you can't fight Debrusk and you NEED to hit someone dirty, make sure it's Bergeron or Marchand, and make sure they're out longer than you're suspended.

No excusing what he did, and no reason to think it won't happen again. Everyone knows Kadri is easy to turn into an angry child with no self control. Every single pest in the league is going to be looking to bait him into taking a major. Every referee is looking out for Kadri hitting too hard, too late, diving, you name it. The next suspension is going to be a guaranteed 5 games minimum. And there is going to be a next suspension this season, you know there is.

Deep down. Everyone knows it.

The “he’s learned” nonsense falls flat with 5 suspensions for the same thing in 7 years of pro hockey.

We simply don’t have him when it counts.

And when we do... he’s not the player he was.

4.5 may be a nice cap hit. But 4.5 in the press box in the playoffs... as a result of his own choices... is an absolutely waste.

We would have been better off keeping Bozak.

Willy playing C was stellar defensively. Want offense? Give him someone other than 2 grinders Marleau/Brown. That being said, Matthews-Nylander and Tavares/Marner duos needs to stick together.

I agree with you though, we need a replacement for Kadri either in the system or exrernally. We don't have that yet, although I hoping Brooks/SDA can fill that void soon. Or an agressive, energetic skilled C similar to him.

It's less that he hasn't learned, just that his suspension history is too extensive for lenience. One bad day is the only thing standing between him and 10 games off for something that a regular player would only get a major for.

Too many eyes on him now. No one wants to call a penalty in case he's diving, no one wants to give him benefit of the doubt on a borderline hit. The rest of the league knows it and will take advantage of it.

There is the thing. For everyone who keeps banging the drum about how Kadri learned his lesson (again), and how he wouldn't do something like this. (again), -how many times does Nazem Kadri has to burn this team with his action under the guise of "defending a teammate", or "being sandpaper-y" or "being passionate" or what other ad hominem you'd like before it's acknowledge that his behaviour when he gets mad is a detriment to the team?

The 2nd round?
Third?
Cup finals?

because i remember last year when Naz got suspended during the regular season that everyone kept saying well it's the regular season, he'd never do something like that in the playoffs. then he did it int he playoffs, and it's "well he'll learn now - he wouldn't jeopardize this team." and then he did it again.

i don't know nor understand how people can trust a literal ticking time bomb that if you get under his skin - he'll do something completely bonkers. even his biggest defenders in the media can acknowledge it. i'm just wondering where the line is for people.

thanks for your service - trade him get someone who can do this job and more importantly be dependable.
