Curious what @TRASHCAT is thinking……
I don’t blame him at all to be honest. Sure I’d be frustrated if he was on a team that I like and I imagine some of his teammates are pissed but NFL contracts are not guaranteed and an NFL player is always one snap away from losing his career to a bad injury. Even with Damar Hamlin the NFLPA had to negotiate with the NFL to ensure his contract was changed to be fully guaranteed because he would have lost money by being “injured” when he literally died on the field.

The more I think about it, why would he leave? A Top D and O line….couldn’t be setup better for multiple championships….unless that’s not his top goal I guess. By all accounts he’s walking around limping, but the talking heads on ESPN saying he would be playing if his contract was already in place. I dunno…I don’t blame him for not playing if he’s really limping…

Think RG3 might have told him a thing or two about playing in a playoff game injured
Don’t blame the guy. Career was never the same after he tore his acl on that terrible FedEx field. Seattle lost DE Clemons to an acl as well that game.

Lamar, not sure which side blinks. Ravens offering him the standard 5 year term with basically 3 years fully guaranteed. He’s sticking to 5 years. Some of the business insiders have suggested that Ravens should either use the transition tag or Non exclusive franchise tag on Lamar and let him seek a deal that he likes. If he finds one then Bal and that team can either talk trade or thee other team can sign Lamar and Bal either matches it or takes the 2 first rounders as compensation.

Might be the only way for Lamar to see if someone is as desperate as the Browns.

They basically gave Rui away. Trash organization is trash.

Literally for a bag of peanuts. Since when have any of our second round picks resulted in anything of substance. And two of them in 2028 and 2029 to boot. And Kendrick Nunn? Tommy Shephard has done a piss poor job of drafting, and the one guy he drafted who has belatedly shown some promise he gets absolutely nothing in return. Since his one run of decent moves in his first offseason he's largely been trash.

Nunn was seen as a terrific prospect after his first 2yrs in Miami. Then he got hurt, and missed all last season. He’s definitely not “back to form”, at all.

Rui was probably a locker room issue. The Wizards honestly have TOO MUCH DEPTH. Too many mouths to feed and it leaves players disgruntled and frustrated.

They should be trading away 2-3 players for a better 1. Or dealing away for futures.

Came back just to say what of absolute awful trade. The fact that this organization often just sells their 2nd round draft picks.

They could’ve at least asked for like a washing machine and a six pack of Miller light

Maybe Shepard thinks if he collects 20 2nd rounders he might hit on one. Or trade them for packages getting them a top 3 in the draft.

He was an undrafted rookie. He’s 27 now. Limited ceiling. Rui on the other hand could be a 20/6/5 type guy. Trade Avdija to make space, now THAT guy has a limited ceiling. Or Kispert. Shepard is outsmarting himself m.

Ugh this trade. Where is the bench scoring going to be...Deni? Zards can't draft. What Sato was the only serviceable 2nd round pick if I recall correctly. Wonder if we are heading back to the day where the wizards sell their 2nd rounders for cash considerations. Why trade Rui if they were not going to rebuild? Just don't get the whole thing.

Tommy has been solid on trades but pretty subpar on drafting so I’m not optimistic that this will turn out in their favor.

Of course, none of it matters for the next four years. As long as their wagon is attached to Brad they don’t stand a chance. They have the 6th worst points percentage in the league with almost $80M tied up in KP and Beal and Brad has played in only 26 of 46 games this year. They’ll overpay for Kuzma this off-season as well.

This mess was a fait accompli from the start but Ted refuses to tank so they’ll just suck organically instead. And they’ll suck just enough to not suck bad enough to be good again. Haven’t cared this little about the Wizards in a long time and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

The Wizards are a lottery ticket you put in your wallet and forget about. Maybe it hits, maybe it doesn't. Probably won't.

Casual viewing until then. Plenty of other things competing for limited attention.

Can't win as a basketball team in this city.
This again. The Wizards were winning in the mid 2010s when, what do you know, they tanked and got great young players in Wall and Beal. And then they added good players to that in Otto, Nene, Gortat, Paul Pierce, etc. Wall got hurt a few times and it ruined everything but they followed the blueprint that, *checks notes*, most of the league follows in order to field a competitive team and lo and behold, it worked.

Cleveland and Milwaukee are two of the top five teams in the East right now. I guess Cleveland is just a more desirable location for free agents than DC? The top five teams in the West are Denver, Memphis, Sacramento, New Orleans, and Dallas. Those huge markets must be able to spend more on free agents than small market teams I guess.

I'm not saying this team can ever win a championship but there's no reason they can't be good, other than Ted not allowing it to happen.

Because reaching the second round is a win for this team... Not titles or ending the 40 year championship drought.
