Gooch hasn't come out of all this looking like the smartest cookie. But there's just no way he actually thought he'd be able to sneak off for one LIV event and then come back like nothing happened. I refuse to believe it.

Well, cost isn’t the only issue — it’s actually how many people are *paying* that cost.

Nats were 18th in attendance last year, 19th this year. All of the “higher cost game experiences” were ahead of them.

So…… yeah. Not so puzzling
Puzzling is paying near top $ for that product...

The O's were my team before the Nationals came to town so will always think fondly of those good teams they had in the 90s. Love the stadium and the location but admittedly I've always liked Baltimore. Been a few years since playing gigs up there or hitting up Fells Point, etc.. Did see a voivod/death club show up there about 5 or so years ago.

Heyman and Sherman highlighted young major leaguers such as Dylan Carlson, Harrison Bader, Tyler O'Neill, Nolan Gorman and Brendan Donovan, as well as prospects such as Jordan Walker, Masyn Winn and Matt Liberatore as potential trade targets in the St. Louis organization if the Nationals do entertain a trade.

If the team is so broke why trade for players in their 6 year window MLB contracts

Unless Rizzo knows new owners will keep players past their rookie deals... Ted??

I was a huge orioles fan back in the day (late 70's, 80'. early 90's). Angelos has made it easy for me to dislike them both in the nature he managed his own team and, especially, with his resistance to a Washington team and the MASN contract. They argue a DC team "hurts Baltimore". Yeah, well, the Ravens "hurt DC". It's the nature of 2 teams in large markets anywhere. Now I thoroughly enjoy their modern era suckage.

"You've never seen a player of Juan Soto's caliber, with two-and-a-half years of control, hit the market. So, you're looking at a package of three to five of a team's top prospects in addition to one or two controllable young players who are big league ready. ... But you're talking about a package of four to six players, two or three of whom can join the Nationals roster and make an impact right now."

Feinsand said he spoke to 17 different front office executives to get their thoughts on where Soto will land. The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers were voted as the leading candidates to acquire the 23-year-old.

How do we stay Nats fans after Harper, Trea, ans Soto leave. That could be the All star team top of the line up for the next 10 years

I really can’t believe they’re going to trade him. Just pay the guy what he wants. Are they really going to lose a talent like his because they want to pay him $450 instead of the $500M he supposedly wants? He’s 23 years old for f***’s sake, he could play another 15+ years and be one of the best hitters ever. This is not Harper or Rendon or Desmond we’re talking about.
