Prospect Promotion Incentive picks

Awarded for having a preseason top 100 prospect on team's Opening Day roster who went on to win Rookie of the Year Award.

31. Arizona Diamondbacks

32. Baltimore Orioles

This is an interesting new rule you get a first round pick if you’re rookie makes opening day roster and rookie of the year. I guess this is a Kris Bryant rule.

The Os and Nats have some players that could do this soon

Makes sense to me. No big time coach/investment will make sense till they have a decent talent pool (guess we'll see how long that takes). I do like how the team played after Unseld got canned. He'd call a fast time out if the team came out playing turnstyle defense. Of course towards the end of the season some injuries and trading Gafford hurt what D they had.

Lots and lots and lots of free words about Nats prospects.

As with most prospect writers, I'm sure some things can be quibbled with. But in general Erik knows a hell of a lot more than any of us.

It doesn't "sting" me, because we never had a chance at him. What stings a bit is Langford already in the majors, and having showed some success, with Crews still in AA.

Random note, too, just for context on how good Skenes has been: Strasburg's first 4 games were arguably better than his have been. Stras had more IP, more Ks, gave up more hits but fewer runs, same walks. Advanced stats I skimmed had the same general conclusion.

Washington got crews anyway so it doesn't matter. Plus pitching other than Corbin is fine.

The offense is putrid so crews fits this team more.

Much ado about nothing here. Stupid article. "What does this mean for Jackson Holliday?" Absolutely nothing.

They called up a right handed hitter to replace the injured right handed hitter. Holliday is a lefty.

Also, Norby plays 2B and OF, Mateo plays 2B and OF (and more), Holliday doesn't play OF.

I think when you're the #1 prospect in baseball, and you come up and fail hard, you're going to get even more micro focus and attention. The fact that Jorge Mateo has been dominating lately makes it even more likely that JH won't see the bigs again this year unless something really dramatic changes. Agreed that this article is a little click bait-ish, kinda piling on, but thats what the spotlight will bring.

He will come up again in September (when they expand rosters), and will play some, I’d wager. They will want to give him another chance THIS year, to wipe away the first cup of coffee taste.

It could be good strategy, He was a really bad call up earlier this season and with the new rules if they keep his status for ROY next season and he wins ROY they get a comp 1st rounder. The reverse effect of the Kris Bryant rule lol

Risacher and Baylor Scheierman (outside shooter) to the 'Zards.

Apparently, Hawks have had Clingan in for a private workout and they were very impressed with him, particularly his shot blocking ability. Word is their head coach is actually favoring Clingan.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Hawks blew their pick. We could land Sarr yet.

Sarr has some gremlins as well. But pretty clear to everyone he has the highest upside. His not good rebound numbers are subpar. I do have a long hangup of not liking bigs who inexplicable don't rebound well. Kinda like is their motor suspect.

I do like Clingan as well he would immediately help the defense in the middle and we've seen what its like how shot blocking centers can really disrupt the other teams offense.

I do hope they grab some defensive big or two in FA if they don't get a center with their first two picks.

My order of preference: 1. Sarr 2. Sheppard 3. Risacher.

Main thing with Sheppard is the intangibles: the high-IQ, the leadership skills, the fact that he's played for the most storied college basketball team in history for the last couple of years, and faced high pressure situations game in and game out. I could definitely see him being the field general of a championship team in the future. I can't say the same about Risacher.

Hope the Wizards stay away from Clingan. Heavy feet and a general lack of athleticism. Much better options at the #2.

Shepard is small and short arms but his athleticism was surprising to me and compensates for much of the first two cons. Falling into the trap for me for going for the safer pick. Just hope are new GM and President have nerves of steel and go with what makes sense moving forward.

I’d be really surprised if it wasn’t Risacher. He’s definitely the type that the OKC contingent loved back there. So with our leadership being very OKC centric, I’d bet a good amount that he will be the pick.

Obv if he goes #1, then that cannot happen (him going #2 as well 😂😂)

“In the last three holes, yeah,” Schauffele explained. “I pancaked him and on his stroke holes I started talking sh*t to him. He got all quiet, focused and then birdied like 15-16, no strokes. I was like ‘alright.’”

Yep, you heard that right. Schauffele admitted, on camera, that His Airness not only beat him, but beat him straight up, calling the experience “a bit embarrassing.”

lol that’s great…
