Argentina draw 1-1... robbed of 3 points. Started off terribly but GLC changed the game and was man of the match. He should be an undisputed starter.

No, not really. The system doesn't particularly suit Haller, fair enough. But nothing about his game has translated. His work rate, his finishing, and his hold-up play have straight up not been good enough, let alone for a £40M rated player. He's had opportunities and at no point has he performed, and that's even in the games where they shifted to playing with two strikers. I've been surprised by his lack of finishing, he has missed so many grade A chances in the box.

He can be a good player in the right team that plays to his strengths, maybe specifically in the German league, but I don't think he'll ever quite live up to the billing. I think it's interesting that neither Rebic nor Jovic have hit the highs individually that they had collectively (Rebic with the best claim for success alone).

EDIT: Removed the last bit, because I got my years completely wrong. That was 18-19 under Pellegrini, the year prior to Haller moving to West Ham. But I will note, Pellegrini played a possession style last year completely opposite to the one Moyes installed when he arrived.

Palacios hurt on a play very similar to Neymar... Out 2 months. Shitty ref didnt even send off the player. Between that and Lio's goal called back it was a travesty for him. I thought this was done last copa. SMH.

Not a good start at all for Peru in this qualifying campaign. Early yet, but they have a better side than what’s been shown so far in these qualifiers.

Nigeria blew a four goal lead at home to Sierra Leone, three of the four Sierra Leone goals coming in the final 18 minutes

That midfield for two years should be Santi at the base with Palacios and Lo Celso roaming in front. Still staggering to see the mad selections Scaloni makes not to make formation. Armani, Paredes and Otamendi still playing. Montiel forced in at centreback. What the hell is that. And Nico Gonsalez as a left side back when he is an attacking outside left. Madness. Almiron ran into Quarta and how the Brazilian referee took the goal away was amazing. Nothing wrong with it at all. Carrying on with their cheating from the last Copa as they struggled past Venezuela.

Scaloni as an example could choose this:

--------------------------------Martinez--------------------------------------
Montiel--------Quarta----------------------Senesi---------Tagliafico-----
-------------------------------Li.Martinez------------------------------------
-------------------Lo Celso---------------------Palacios---------------------
----------------------------------Messi---------------------------------------
-------------------L.Martinez-------------------Ocampos------------------

di Maria moaning in the newspapers also managed to get a recall. His time is up. Nico Gonsalez is the direct replacement.

Sudan manager over-reacts to a push from a referee (which isn't right either, despite the light nature of it) and then acts like a drunk getting kicked out of a bar

On the one hand, I'm happy he's not getting called up because it means he's fresher for the league. On the other, it's extremely stupid to me that Sergi Roberto and Hector Bellerin are ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta in Spain's pecking order.

I was just thinking yesterday that Lisandro should be given a run out at DM. Paredes brings next to nothing. Not far off is RDP works his socks off but Argentina have better options. For me Perez should start at CB too. I like that line up tho.

santi needs to get healthy and get his career back on track. Probably a move away from Germany would do him good. I wish Ajax would invest in Argentina more. Love what they do.

French domination so far, real miracle it's still 0-0. Hope they don't regret missing those chances (including the crossbar).

I bloody love Marcus Danielsson. What a player, he won Djurgården the title almost single handedly last year and is now playing amazing for the national team. Kulusevski with a great goal and amazing performance top, nice to see. Forsberg playing very well too.

Both are much better players, so no. Jesus Navas is also better than Azpilicueta, he offers nothing offensively what so ever which is not what you want in a team like Spain.

France dominated the 1st half but Portugal had a couple of opportunities towards the end
You mean ONE? On a corner?
Yeah they had one chance. France had multiple and hit the post.
Frankly, France has been stepping on Portugal pretty badly.

Who would've thought Lindelöf and Danielson would be Sweden's center-back pairing when they both played for Swedish third-tier team Västerås ten years ago? :)
