None of it matters now, just like how minutes played are usually such a big talking point for pulling McDavid and Draisaitl down.

To end this argument, McDavid simply needs to score empty net gifts. Historically these guys get too cute and do stupid sxxx when the nets empty for no reason. Could have at least 5 to 10 more points if he didn't fxxx around on empty nets

If anything empty net points are more important than regular points. The game is on the line - the opponent ties it and you're back to square one. Putting the game out of reach is everything. Empty net points are the clutchest; if you don't hit that empty net people will laugh at you so the pressure is high. Mackdaddy just has the ice.

What did I just read. ENP are valuable, but in no world are they more impressive than go ahead goals or game tying goals. This opinion isn't based in reality anywhere outside this thread.

Agreed. Empty net situations are increasingly becoming a bigger part of the game and players need to adjust, especially since EN points can determine the difference between winning or losing the Ross or Rocket.

Mack got a couple points not on an empty net, good for him. Oilers showing they are the much better team tonight. At the tail end of a brutal road trip, 3rd game in four nights, 2nd of a b2b, landed in Denver at 3am last night, and dominating play/possession Avs lucky the game is tied.

If anything they both play well against each other head to head. Yet another category he is worse than McDavid in though. I will say at least he is competitive unlike someone else you live to defend. He has tortured your idol since day one to a tune that is unheard of. Must suck. Saw the leafs game tonight that was a heck of a game. Thought it was relevant considering that’s actually your team.

The avs aren't a great team. Mackinnon almost single handedly carried them to a win there, but nobody else did much.

They lost all their depth after they won the cup and now they lead the league in injuries. But hey, at least they won a cup

IMO this is a stats vs chances of winning tradeoff. With the emptynet one can shot at the net everytime one gets the puck and get a goal for every 5-6 icings, maybe, or simply play it smart/safe.

Yep, it was a nice goal.

Bouchard to his credit: 1-1-2, +2, GWG, 5 shots, played almost 26 minutes, led both teams in XGF%, and was the game’s first star.
