It's almost like...like a lot of new guys in major spots almost started developing chemistry or something. It's not like we can look to the playoff year or anything as an example of this very phenomenon. It's not like that team was 2 games under .500 at Christmas or anything, or went 27-15-6 after Christmas once the new guys assimilated themselves into the team.

Your theory's probably better though. Remind me again who got canned at Christmas in the playoff year that "shook things up" or "sent a message" or "created a sense of urgency", because I seem to have forgotten.

One thing is for sure now, Howson won't go down in CBJ history as our worst GM. While he did some very questionable things at the NHL level, he drafted well and stocked our farm system up from virtually nothing. Those kids are starting to get it done now.

Probably not, but I would have liked a chance to turn the clock back and seen what the CBJ could have been if a guy like John Davidson was President instead of Mike Priest after MacLean was fired.... No doubt the players selected to play are key but none of us know the impact on the room management has....

I'll admit it felt like the sun came out the day Howson got fired.

One would think JD was my father but he's not, I have followed his career in an ad hoc way for years before coming to Columbus... Not only is he a great leader he played the game and has a knack for taking action at the right time... Everyone here was shocked when he fired Howson.... For all intent and purpose he is running the CBJ, what impact Jarmo has on the CBJ is yet to be determined but in the end JD is Captain of this ship.. And I'm happy he is..

Hard to believe how many people were arguing that very thing just three weeks ago.

Oh well, we'll all have to see what happens when Edmonton cans Tambellini and installs Howson as the new GM. Here he had Nash and Zherdev to start with. There he'll have Schultz, Yakupov, Nugent-Hopkins, Hall, Eberle...oh, and probably one final Oilers' first overall pick.

Howson doesnt like Yakupov, maybe he would trade him to us for Brassard!:yo:

Really, we win a few games and now Howsons a genius? Again its a hot goalie carrying the load, just like the playoff year. i like it, but i hope its not just enough to move us from a top 5 pick to a top 15!

Anyone have a video of the standing O that vinny got for his 500th assist? Fox went to commercial...

I have no video but good post anyway, not enough press in this thread for Vinny.... If I owned the CBJ he would be signed to play one more year for the Jackets then go behind the bench to assist Richards... He has the goods to coach in the NHL....

I literally had to look up at the scoreboard to see if we were on the power play.
(Then I remembered our power play never looks this good!)

Shift of the season! :handclap:

It was an impressive shift anyway, with Brassard doing a great squirrel impression. But then to find Letestu alone at the goal, and kaboom! And it was not an empty netter, Rinne had a lot of that goal covered. A great shift with the proper finish! :yo:

(and hey, you're right, but... we did get a PP goal!)

I'm excited, as I think most of us are.... That said, remember the Tsunami of interest the Hawks got in the beginning of this season when they had 10 or 11 games in a row with points??

If only the Jackets had Kane, Toews or Hossa eh.... I want 23..... ;)

My friend who is into advanced stats showed me JJ's numbers after the game, he used GVT. It showed JJ's defense has improved dramatically over the last 2 years to the point of being a solid defender. Not great, but also not LA King fan scouting breakdown of his D last year either.

I heard the crowd chanting tonight, as I have the last couple of games. That's great. For those of you in attendance, have you noticed the crowds growing or becoming more noticeable? Attendance numbers I noticed were slightly higher, but that was for the Blackhawks game

Also, Nashville broadcast showed a couple of guys with fake moustaches and Aviators riffing on the Bobrovsky's "On the case!" theme, pretty great. (or should I say Bobrovsky's "On the case!" meme? :sarcasm:)

Wonder what the odds of the Jackets getting points in 11 straight games in a truncated season would have been prior to the season?

100-1?

I'd give them a 99% chance to get points in 1 straight games. You never know for sure, but that's a pretty solid bet.

As of today the Jackets are tied for the 8th seed in the west..... Granted the Sharks, Stars and Oil have 2 games in hand but whatever.... they better win those two games..

Things could change but it's almost unbelievable that the CBJ are 7-0-3 in the last ten.... just sayin.

Look for the Kings to cool off here soon. They've got quite the road trip coming up. Here's hoping the take a tumble in the standings, hopefully all the way out of the playoff picture.
