Very subjective comment. You can watch every game and see some type of boarding not getting called. It was a home arena call for sure. Preds are not getting any favors from the officials, nor will they. They are awful.
Trying to determine intent is difficult, but I would bet if that same thing was done to a Preds player the takes would be very different on this board.

I think the 3 games for ZLH is complete BS. Yes, it was a bit dangerous and reckless play but come on, there are way dirtier plays going on that go way unnoticed. No way that's 3 with current rulings...
We should probably get used to suspensions for ZLH. And misconducts, etc.

Not because he's some dirty/evil player. But mostly because his reputation precedes itself. Oh well. I'm not surprised. Hopefully he'll make enough of a positive impact with his skill and tenacity that we won't mind the extra tax he's going to get charged on penalties, misconducts, and suspensions. Might as well get used to it, unfortunately.

That play deserved a suspension. You can argue intent, but at BEST it was dangerously reckless and he should know better. You don't have to be trying to hurt someone to be a dangerous player. In that position, the onus is on ZLH to make the safe play. He went for the aggressive play instead, and hey in another position on the ice it might have been the right call. But he's responsible for knowing where he is on the ice, where the boards are, and when he has to back off a little to keep things safe. I don't think it was intentional either, but it was stupid and deserves some time off to reinforce that you can't be careless when you're playing that fast.

I think most of us agree with this. What we don't agree with is 3 games plus the match penalty.

Right, it can be a dangerous play and we could have wished for either ZLH to be more careful or for the outcome to have not gone as badly as it did. I'm pretty sure not all players in the league would have been penalized the same way for the same play, however. Even if the play was still a reckless one.

Not that any of us really care to micro-analyze the play in great detail, like they do on the main boards. Our season is toast and ZLH isn't winning games for us, so whether he gets suspended for 1 game or 3 games doesn't really rile us up. But down the road, it does set him up to build on his unfortunate reputation... so he'll be tagged as a repeat offender who gets 5 then 10 games or whatever next time. It might not seem like a big deal today if the suspension is a tad on the stiff side, but that little extra tax is going to snowball down the road on him. Oh well.

He took the penalty in the 2nd period. The only option for a slew foot is the match penalty and the automatic suspension until reviewed by the league.

Two, three, four, or five games suspended was the only unknown after the game and the league came down dead center of the options.

Probably just insurance for the back to backs, but there's a ton of smoke on the trade front around the league right now. JT Miller to the Rags seems likely, I wonder if we're involved as a third party there or in another deal with Buffalo for Cozens/Byram/someone else.
