Sabres pass.

But Novak for pick/prospect maybe make sense.

Why, though. Questionable value and what's more, Buffalo gives up two young former high draft picks without addressing any of their most pressing needs.

Also, no reason to trade Kulich. Or even Cozens for that matter. He's apparently not the solution at 2C but as long as he's not bringing back a bonafide 2C in a trade, why give him away in the first place.

Don't know what Buffalo needs, but on the Preds board we're wrangling over:

Novak/Sissons (which kind of Center?)
Lauzon/Carrier (which hand on D?)
1st (Vegas)
Top Prospect
Parssinen (well just so he doesn't go on waivers)

A key holdup to me would be the identity of "Top Prospect"... I think the Preds should hold onto L'Heureux, Moldendyk, and any fallback options for #2C in anticipation of Cozens not living up to that job (i.e. Svechkov and Edstrom). So that sort of narrows it down to Kemell or Wood? I am not sure those are really the kinds of winger prospects the Sabres are in much need of either, however. :dunno:

None of that is interesting to Buffalo.

If Buffalo is trading Cozens (which I personally highly doubt)......my guess is that it's as part of a package to UPGRADE the 2C position.

What Buffalo needs: 1/2C (who plays both ways), top 4 RHD. That's it. That's the list. If we move Cozens for a legit top 4 RHD, then my guess is that there's another move coming involving either Byram or Power (as part of a package) to land said 1/2C (Vancouver?).

I don't see Nashville having the assets that Buffalo needs/wants to get Cozens.

Not going to get a lot more than a late 1st, I'd think. OP is certainly light on the offer, but Cozens has done nothing but regress (stats-wise) and get paid since his one good season. I'd love to give him a chance with some new scenery, but don't think a team is going to want to give up a premium player.

And I think Buffalo's front office is more than fine waiting on Cozens to remove his head from his ass.

Cool. Then we won’t trade him. If we can make our team better by moving him, we should. If we can’t, then we should keep him. Offering to clean out your junk drawer doesn’t do anything for us.

Wouldn't call a 1st and clearing $7 mil junk. But I agree that he's probably worth holding onto.
