but yet he has not done much.... any forward that played over 20 games and has 3 hits that is avoiding contact is afraid of getting hurt.. either that or he has had a change of heart about coming to the Rangers... big soft forwards, for some reason Rangers love players like this

Yeah, and if I had to go back, I would do this trade....

for a different player. If that was Patrick Kane, or Evander Kane, I would have done it. Nash was a gamble. nash is not a leader, nash is not a peckhead, nash isn't a pest. Basically, nash is NOT a complete player. He is a scorer, and that's not a player I trade for any day

Seems what Sather does is develop them half way, trade them for established players who are on the wrong side of their prime, and then they blow chunks

It's the win-now mentality... You take shortcuts, aka ionstead of waiting 3-5 years for this player to develop, we can trade for xyz player, and content for championship in 1-2 years!

Shortcuts never work in any aspect of life.

He's been concussed twice since he got to New York....so no.

His play indicates that he clearly is not fine.

Fine is what he was before the Lucic hit. A player using his skill to create opportunities and stay involved.

This is a player struggling to deal with 2x concussed, and a higher level of stress than what he faced in Cbus....which can't be helping the first thing, imho.

He needs to be able to keep up with the play, work the boards at least a little, stay involved.....or sit.

People need to lay off Nash and even Callahan these guys have had injuries to deal with, but when they are on their games they make a positive difference in the line-up and help control the momentum of a game.

According to some fans, It seems as soon as someone is hurt or goes in a slump they should be traded.

Nash only having 3 hits is a big concern especially with a guy his size.. no need to avoid contact if you are scared of getting hurt.. if Nash is really scared of getting hurt, he should have been sitting out a few more weeks..

The fact that Nash signed an 8-year NMC/NTC extension with a franchise that was 247-376-33 since inception and with a franchise that showed no signs of improvement should been a red-flag to Rangers management. Is the guy just after a nice paycheck? How badly does he want to win? He's been floating around for a while now. Shows up in spurts. Disappeared in the playoffs.

He did half-ass his way out of there, demanding a trade then publicly pretending he didn't really demand it and then eventually admitting he did demand it, but only because he thought it would benefit CBJ to bring back a package of players for him.

the Rangers traded for Nash to get more scoring, yet they traded Gaborik to get more depth and still had 1 legit goal scorer like they did with Gaborik.. these 2 moves with the Bluejackets did not make any sense at all, especially since they dealt Gaborik....one step forward yet 2 steps back.. great job Sather.. rangers could have traded a dman to get depth back.. i wonder how this team would be if they kept both Gaborik and Nash and traded Staal or Girardi instead.

Moore is better than Erixon. Dorset is nowhere near Dubinsky. Anisimov and Brassard play different games but are a wash. Shuffling the deck without really changing the outcome, except for disrupting the chemistry and losing additional guys like Prust and Mitchell in the shake down.

Good point but how about Nash scores a goal forget carry the offense? Imagine he doesn't hit 20 goals this season, now that's embarrassing

The issue is largely based on the lack of future team development being taken into consideration when absorbing that huge caphit for that low quality of a player, while giving up multiple, NHL caliber assets in return. The Rangers probably should've held out until this season and acquire a natural LWer like Vanek at a reduced price and expiring contract. No clue what was going into Sather's head when he traded for another RWer with Gaborik and Callahan. Rick Nash caliber players are usually always available every season, there was zero need to blow the team up to accommodate him.

Agreed. I said it too, we didnt NEED Nash, we could have kept that team and added to it and THEN added a guy like Vanek or a top 6 winger to help. No need to destroy what we had. No matter how many times it is said, that trade was the first sign of this downfall
