Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I was against acquiring him in February of 2012 but once I saw the package I was pleased. Would make the trade again.
Just seems like Nash is the kind of guy who is a coach killer...and in a different New York Ranger world, a GM killer. You're only going to get what he's capable of in spurts, then you wonder who to blame for the fact that he doesn't do it more often.
His playoff performance was not good - yet I'm sure he'll shine in the Olympics, since he'll be the sixth offensive option for Canada, and most of the best defensemen in the world are on his team. That's going to be so cool. Then he'll come back here and everyone will say Nash's weak stretch drive and possible playoff performance is someone else's fault.
In the playoffs last year I could take Nash's lack of production but I could not take his lack of passion.

It's one of the most overused expressions, yeah. The most annoying HFBoards trope is and always will be the projected lineups five years from now with every marginal homegrown pick and prospect slotted into the lineup and playing an important role.
Absolutely. Essentially, we traded two bottom six players for a guy that will probably be playing on Team Canada in February. It's perplexing to me that anybody regrets this trade.

Can't decide. Been on the fence about this trade since it happened. I don't see how it's such an easy decision, in a vacuum it was a good trade, but our team hasn't been the same since.

Is he worth 11% of the cap? Can't say I think so. He's a one dimensional goal scorer, and an overrated one at that. The price they give up for him was fine; none of those players were anything to cry about, but I'm just not sure why you would ever want a Rick Nash on your team at that cap hit.
I guess it won't look so bad if in the next year or two a bunch of players end up getting $8 mill or more, but I don't think that many players are going to be in line for such raises. I think you pay that kind of money to a superstar. I don't see Nash as a superstar.
It might have made more sense than what is happening now, but to what end? 11-12, they were incredibly fortunate to not have to get through Boston or Pittsburgh. Sorry, but I don't think Gaborik in the playoffs without a legit creator on his line to feed him chances makes much sense, either. None of it makes any sense. Not having a legitimate offense for what seems like eons at this point doesn't make any sense.

They needed to either fire Torts midseason and find an offensive coach then, or make the Gaborik trade, but give Torts another year. But they botched it and have lost their identity and best offensive player in less than a calendar year as a result.

I like John Moore and I like Dorsett as a replacement for Prust. I see where Sather was going there. He's tough, will fight and can play enough to not just be a goon.
Gabby was done here. This thread is so filled with hindsight it's silly.
Long cold spells, lots of missed games....and has he played 10 games this year?
Because of a coach who is also done here. It's a misfire on all counts. One, the trade wasn't very good, and two, the side they chose, they bailed on a couple months later too.
Gabby not being the same anymore is the only saving grace. This could be even worse.

i would do it again because we definitely bought low (with the NTC situation) and if we need to flip him somewhere now, we can get a insane return that far exceeds what we gave up... provided the same NTC doesn't handcuff as well.
Asset management wise, we still end up ahead. He's still a game breaker... you know, every other 5 games he shows up... actually I can't condemn him. The whole team is playing like crap.
If I'm going to blame anyone on the Rangers it's going to be AV for not adapting his coaching and system in a way that allows this roster to excel and Sather for hiring AV who fundamentally needs a high skill team to play his system even though our roster is built around Torts tooth and nails system.

I've said it a million times I wish we made the Gaborik trade first and left Nash in clb. Does Nash still have a NMC?

I'd say no. The rationale for the trade was that we were close enough that Nash would put us over the top. That obviously didn't happen.
Now we are left with what looks like another underperforming, overpaid, soft player.

Do we really need an "elite goal scorer" to win a cup? Or do we need 4 balanced lines filled with guys who can score? Not including the 4th line of course. I rather take that 7.8 and improve in other areas.
And to everyone saying you make that trade all the time, why? Why did we NEED Nash? We couldnt make a package for a guy like Ryan? Why did it need to be Nash? I like Nash but it feels like we are in the same place when we had Gaborik, just without the hard work and less hitting. I would have traded those guys for a different player. Dubinsky, Anisimov, Erixon and a 1st doesnt just get you Nash, i'm sure it could have brought in a decent top 6 winger or center. We lost in the ECF because of the lack of depth, why not add somr depth in the offseason.

Nash is not a winner and overpaid by about 2.5-3 mil a year. Without an elite player for him to play with he won't reach 40 goals again. He's streaky and you don't even notice him half the time, sometimes I confuse pouliot with him. I wouldn't make that trade for Nash again, guys like Dubinsky and anisimov give you more than what Nash gives you. Dubi 50 point guy gritty can pk play center or wing, anisimov 30-40 point 3rd line center who has a nice 2way game and can pk. Imagine we made the Gaborik trade and not the Nash trade?

Thank you. Everyday I was saying don't go for Nash go for Ryan or seguin or erikkson or eberle or e Kane. Someone in the 21-25 range who will be coming into their prime. Sather really dropped the ball since our ECF appearance, we headed in the right direction traded for Nash ran into injuries then traded Gaborik and went lateral. Now we took a step back
