After the Hayes and Connolly experiments, why not. Yakupov has more talent than both combined. I would do McQuaid + Edmonton 2nd back for Yakupov and see what happens.

maybe if edm throws in their 3rd or something. mcquaid isn't a cap dump or anything so I see AM plus edm 2nd as a pretty good package for a middle 6 RW.

and then of course you have the KHL conspiracy theory that every russian kid runs back home when things don't pan out (see valeri nichushkin)

What the hell? The Bruins need to upgrade their defense, not obtain a one dimensional first round bust that would drive Claude crazy.

We're looking for the exact opposite of McQuaid at this point. We need someone with some offensive skill. W

Would the Bruins have any interest in moving Colin Miller? He is a guy we might be able to develop into the type of d-man we need.

I would certainly take a flyer on yak, especially if we can free up a spot on D by moving mcquaid. i think the additional 2nd and 3rd would cause me to be hesitant here. Yak's perceived value isn't that high at the moment. but i think something can be worked out. I also think Yak could benefit from playing in CJ's system. it's working out ok for pasta and I could see Krejci enjoying some speed and a shooter on his right side.

I'd take a flyer on Yak as well but my point is I don't know if Claude would be on board.

The OP's proposal is a little rich for me. Mcquaid and a 3rd is as far as I'd go.

I'll disagree that he's a cap dump... McQuaid's a solid #6 dman, a heavy weight fighter in the new NHL and a solid leader with a Cup under his belt.
More often than not when he fights.... it's sticking up for a teammate.

One of my favourite players and from PEI like myself. Love to see him hoist the Cup again and Edmonton's not a bad destination for that!

Nice to see a fellow Islander on here haha!

I'm curious what Bruins fans think. So far it's been almost entirely Oiler fans who have chimed in.

We need to get better at D, not worse. Even though McQuaid is a bottom half Dman, and even though he's redundant with K Miller, losing him without adding another Dman is a net negative for the Bruins. Yakupov has value, but he's just not what we need. I think we'd look elsewhere for a deal that fits our needs better.

McQuaid is a tough customer. If we got to keep our 2nd and the Bruins added a 3rd on top of McQuaid I would probably make this trade. McQuaid is an upgrade on Gryba for sure, definitely a better fighter. It'd be selling low on Yak but I'd prefer McQuaid over Fayne if we could move Fayne out.

Maybe you missed the memo..fighting is on the way out. Who's better on the PK is a useful point.

Julien expects players to play at both ends of the rink, something Yak has struggled with. Don't see him fitting into Claude's system either, the polar opposite of a Julien type of player.

As a Bruins fan, I don't expect Julien to be coaching the Bruins for much longer. If the team has another DNQ next season—and I expect it to—then Julien will be let go. In any event, Sweeney appears to be building a team built on speed and transition. Yakupov would fit in well with that philosophy.

At this point a 3rd round pick is overpayment for Yakupov. Plus he doesn't address a single need for the Bruins.

Although he is a left shot, I do believe that he has played RW throughout his career. Boston is weak on the right side.

I would like to see Yakupov in Boston and think that McQuaid+ is a great basis for a deal.

If Yakupov could not succeed in offense-only Edmonton how will he fare in Boston?

He's been buried on the 3rd line with offensive blackholes like Letestu. He put up good numbers with Roy in 2014-15 when they were paired up and put up points when he was paired up with McDavid.

Yakupov is a complimentary piece through and through. He needs to be with a skilled centre, if not he's entirely misused. He's terrible as a driver or "the guy" on a line.

No reason to trade Nail Yakupov at all. His value is atrocious and I believe his upside is still there. This guy has an incredible shot, skates fast, and works hard. I'm hoping he can play with Lucic/McDavid or Maroon/Draisaitl and his only job to be get open in the offensive zone to wire shots.

He hasn't found success because he has been playing with Anton Lander and Mark Letestu. He's not a grinder.

Why doesn't Nail maybe...oh you...force his way onto a line rather than he spoon fed? The guys going into his 5th damn year....

If we could get McQuid for Yakupov...I'd do that all day...McQuiad is an NHL player...Yak will be in the KHL within the next 3 years...if not next year.

Put up or shut up time for Yak

Nail Yakupov for Adam McQuaid, a 2nd and 3 rd rounder.

Why do people continue to think Yuk has more value than he truly has? He is worth either a second or third round pick. That is it. Not two draft picks and McQuaid.

Actually the offers were pretty similar . The Flames first was better and the Oilers 2nd was better so it could be argue either way . I do think our was a little better but it was very close . The additional ask of Nurse was over the top .

Adding a D that makes the Oilers a better team is what he needs to focus on . No need for him to be bitter and miss out on useful players unless Neely goes ******** again
Mcquaid does not make Oliers a playoff team . We have better dmen like Nurse and Reinhart in pipeline

Well, based on the fact Edmonton is trying to unload him and there haven't been any takers except nonsense by Ek, that should tell you Edmonton's placed value on the bust is too high.

I have a strong dislike for both teams involved but I'll say this;

If Edmonton doesn't accept this offer just send the entire franchise down to the AHL.

McQuaid is Gryba at potentially 3x the price with term. Negative interest

"yak is worthless..... trade him to my favourite team for nothing or you're an idiot. What?! do you think they'll get more?!"

if his value is nothing on the market, why trade him for peanuts? awful

I would do the McQuaid and Edm 2nd for Yak.

Put him on a line with Marchand and Bergeron. Not going to get anymore spoon fed then that. I haven't seen the guy play a lot but it sounds like he is a hard worker and I think Claude will appreciate that. I think finally being a true system with overall hard working players surrounding him could help his game a lot.

Guaranteed it couldn't be worse than Connolly & his 25 points playing with Marchand and Bergeron.

I don't really see Yak on the Bruins roster but if Edmonton would be so stupid to trade him for a 2nd and McQuaid - I'll fly over to the states and drive Adam personally to Edmonton even during the worst Canadian winter.

I like McQuaid, but we just signed Kevan Miller long term, there is zero need for 2 tough slow stay at home D's on your game roster.

as far as yak value goes... lets remember its established by the team that has him and the team that wants him.

joe thornton and tyler seguin had far less value than boston fans believed... so did taylor hall

i would think hf posters would long ago stop pretending we know what a players value is. we can say what we personally would offer, but trying to speak for 30 nhl gms is just ********

none of us will say more than 3 of the next 10 trades in the nhl are win win. we will all say at least 7 of the next 10 trades are one sided.

this proves none of us know the real value of anyone

although common sense would suggest yakupovs value isnt very high at the moment compared to when he was the first pick
