I like McQuaid, but why not sign Gryba for cheaper albeit McQuaid is the better player?

RHD with a mean streak and a $2.75M cap hit? Just send us back the 2nd we owe you for Chia. Doesn't even cost you your 2nd.

Yeah I do that deal, fax over the paper work right now :).

Why would Oilers take a cap dump ?

I'll disagree that he's a cap dump... McQuaid's a solid #6 dman, a heavy weight fighter in the new NHL and a solid leader with a Cup under his belt.
More often than not when he fights.... it's sticking up for a teammate.

One of my favourite players and from PEI like myself. Love to see him hoist the Cup again and Edmonton's not a bad destination for that!

Yup, good leadership skills and would bring the right type of competitive attitude to the locker room. Also lets us keep Nurse in the AHL next year and not forcing him into the lineup on the 3rd pairing.

Going forward, a Nurse-McQuaid 3rd pairing would be the toughest D pairing in the NHL.

I could see Chiarelli doing this as he knows Mcquaid well ,and if he likes him the picks would make it a quantity deal he could sell to the fans. He managed to convince people that Hall was an acceptable price for Larsson, so this should be an easy sell.

The cherry on top would be watching Habs fans have to deal with him scoring a bunch of goals on them after they lowballed us on him for years. I would almost be ok with him turning into a player just to see that.

I would 100% do this deal. Especially because it would send Yak to the East and not come back to bite us. Being around a veteran group up front would be good for him.

I legitimately want to see Yakupov be successful, he's a great person and someone I think all of the Oil faithful would hope the best for. The kid absolutely loves hockey.

This is a Yak deal I think Chia would accept. Caggiula or Pakarinen can replace Yak on the wing.

The 2nd could be the pick owed for Chia, making the deal Chiarelli, McQuaid, and a 3rd for Yakupov.

I'm curious what Bruins fans think. So far it's been almost entirely Oiler fans who have chimed in.

No reason to trade Nail Yakupov at all. His value is atrocious and I believe his upside is still there. This guy has an incredible shot, skates fast, and works hard. I'm hoping he can play with Lucic/McDavid or Maroon/Draisaitl and his only job to be get open in the offensive zone to wire shots.

He hasn't found success because he has been playing with Anton Lander and Mark Letestu. He's not a grinder.

I like mcquaid but he is redundant on the Bruins. While it hurts to lose a solid D man like him, I think he will be phased out slowly as our prospects grow. I'm just afraid Yak would fail under Claude, otherwise I would do this deal immediately.

Interesting. We're seeing a rare deal that, so far at least, both sides seem to like. Good job OP.

Generally agree. Love McQuaid, but he and Kevan Miller are redundant on the right side. IF the Bruins can pull off a Shattenkirk/Fowler move, I think McQuaid is a logical guy to be moved out, and I think he fits well in EDM.

Yak isn't of interest, though.

Don't really want to give our own 2nd and 3rd as I'm really fearing that we're going to end up out of the playoffs again, and Yakupov isn't enough of an incentive to give those picks out.

Nail Yakupov doesn't seem to be the type of guy Bruins would go for.

What if the 3rd was dropped and we kept our 2nd for getting Chia?

Essentially 1 for 1 swap.

It's that Kevan Millar signing that bothers me... Just get the feeling that Mcquaid's going to be the odd man out. Love to see him go to Edmonton and provide some leadership and toughness!

This is not a cap dump Edmonton fans!

Mcquaid for Yakupov is just weird.

I could see something like this happening following another trade, but I don't know if I like giving up both picks.

We don't need that.

We already took your other guy for that.

I don't know. A little more toughness on the backend would be nice. Outside of Nurse, we don't have any real mean SOBs.

Add in right shot, character guy. He'd be a good addition. Lets us start Nurse and Reinhart in the AHL.

Could be a solid 3rd pairing guy for us, and when Nurse is ready bring him up on the 3rd line with McQuaid. Try and **** with those two.
