PMo sounded really tonge in cheek when talking about Morrissey in his presser......they were asking is he sick or injured and that is when the semi sarcastic playful malaise term got used. At least that was might take I thought he was getting cute trying not to give a direct answer.

Indicating Ehlers has been bad?

He has been fine, limited minutes tho.

Healthy scratch could be counter productive imo.
I don't buy for a minute it was a healthy scratch, but even if it was why would it be counter productive? These guys are professionals that continually fight for ice time. Are you saying instead of coming back strong and proving himself he will shut down and sulk? Other than for maybe a few of the most elite players all of them have watched at some point when they thought they could/should play. They accept and wait for an opportunity to prove themselves.

He was talking about Ehlers when he said that.

He did joke about Morrissey pregame......said both his upper and lower body would miss the game

Kypreos said according to his sources Enstrom is ready to come back and play. If that was the case wouldn’t we see him at least partaking in practice and skating?

I understand that he has just started to skate. Enstrom is a very tough mofo.

FWIW ....I have a strong hunch that he was badly injured and that most would not believe what he has played through this year.

As usual, I hate when these games go the other way -- but that is hockey. Thank you as always Jets fans for being awesome folks in our city to chat with about stuff OTHER than just hockey as well. I've met a lot of great folks who have become great friends up North because of that team. Best of luck going forward, I'm rooting for you!

Was at a hockey parent party wind up and really enjoyed the first period with a huge crowd. Very proud moment for all those Jets fans inside and outside of Winnipeg. Also fun for those of us on HFBoards who have been here for a while. Wondering how some of the old time posters are feeling today (Guerzy, GJF, Jet, Romang where are you guys?). Good on Winnipeg I think we have put a great product on the ice and we are also putting our best foot forward off the ice. Lots has changed in this city over the past decade and I feel like this is a bit of a coming out party.

I will get over this high soon and turn my attention to the next round because I am getting greedy and I don't want this party to end.

Edit: whoops Guerzy just saw you posted.

For sure, he could very well come back strong,

Im just coupling this with him being "relegated" earlier this season, and there not really being a reason for a healthy scratch - He might feel a little scapegoated :)

But I agree, there is a bigger chance he comes back stronger, hence me writing it could be, not will be.

Maurice had said earlier in the season that some player were playing with broken bones. I suspect he was referencing Enstrom when he said it.He also mentioned that Enstrom has a very high pain threshold.

I'd add Morrissey to that group.

He's quiet but extremely valuable.

My playoff MVP's so far:

Buff. He's been utterly dominant. Just dominant. Playing a smart, conservative game with occasional amazing offense contributions, all while utterly demolishing people at every opportunity. Playing against this guy must be absolutely demoralizing.

Helle. Excellent throughout except for a blip, and a spectacular performance to help us snag game 4.

Schief. Had one quiet game but for the most part, with 4 g, he's looked awesome against tough competition. Guy can get an elite shot off in traffic, while playing a smart all around game... pretty valuable in the playoffs isn't it?

Connor. Hasn't been on the score sheet outside of one assist, but I am loving this guy's game. Hardly makes a wrong move on the ice.

And Morrisey has just been consistent and smart as usual.

Guys who have been good but I think there is even more to come from them next series:

Laine. Lowry.

Ehler's wasn't healthy scratched. He's banged up. He took a wicked slash on the back of his ankle at some point in the last game. Yeah, he continued to play the game (and took a couple more big hits) but his ankle is definitely hurting. PoMo was having fun with the media with the "general malaise" comment. He needed a night off but he'll be back strong in the 2nd round. Book it.

let old Hannu have a moment to sit down and tell you guys a small story. Please.

IF the Jets make the Cup finals, i'd seriously consider flying back to Winnipeg NOT to try to watch a game live, but just to go and celebrate a possible Cup victory. In my city, in my home town.

Once a Winnipegger, always a Winnipegger.

Do it! I will personally buy your beers or beverages of choice/cilantro sheafs until you say "when". That's a promise.

Then say it later, you don't tell everyone to cool it less than an hour after their first playoff series win in 31 years.

He's a tool.
Kypper's a tool for many, many reasons.
still advocates fighting in hockey. no hit is ever to close to the head for him. and his elbow to Brent Ashton's face is one of the worst thing i've ever seen in hockey.
but his comments from yesterday are being misconstrued.

Poor timing, it just was not the time to say something like that. He also mentioned just prior to that how much tougher it's going to get for them. All fair enough but commentators have to be saavy enough know when to make cerrtain comments.

To me it came across as cheap and small time.

All these comments about Ehlers being hurt from a Shot to the Ankle or a Slash as has been suggested. Where are u getting that from? I read that Ehlers skated in Practice day before yesterday. I haven't read any of whats being posted in here anywhere.

Gramps said that he was told the night before to be ready to play, so there must of been something about Ehlers health that had the Jets concerned, also I thought I heard Maurice say that if the series was closer Ehlers would of played.

What a great night. Jets were lucky to face an injured Wild team in the first round - but won decisively as they should. This wasn't a pure boring goalie thing either like the LA-LV series - Dubnyk made it closer than it ever should have been and a lot of lucky bounces got the Wild there win. Once Dubnyk fell apart (only takes a bad 10 minutes) and they didn't get ludicrously lucky (2nd period in Game 3), the real matchup revealed itself.

Winning a game or two next round (I'm still slightly PTSD from the 2015 series and automatically think we're going to be swept) would be huge.

They showed the "highlite" of the slash during the broadcast just before game time. It was a pretty good lumberjacker right to the back of his leg and he was down on the ice rolling around for a few seconds...

anyone got a PVR of the pre game they could get a gif from?

Are you kidding? If anything, the Wild were "lucky" to face an injured Jets team in the first round.
