Is a ok trade in my opinion, not spectator.Since the 1st is probably going to be late and Grundstrom is a top 9 player,I hoped for a better piece than Grundstrom coming back.

It's Jake Muzzin. 30 years old already. A 5th round pick himself. Pittsburgh let him walk. I believe Nashville passed on him as well before Lombardi swooped in on one of his classic buy low signings? We know his warts. How much more is there to really get for him?

I get it, it’s not a sexy name like a Liljegren or Bracco but this kid could be a real nice piece. I had a chance to see him about a half dozen times last season during the Marlies run to the Calder Cup and there were a few games he really asserted himself by playing a fiesty game and being all over the opponent while chipping in offensively.

I think he can be a solid NHLer’. He could be a 15 goal, 40 point player. Not a flashy guy but pretty solid all around.

Everyone's having a down year, but Muzzin was far from the problem.

In many ways, he is the player everyone expected Phaneuf to be in his earlier years; tough with a great shot from the point.

So the leafs are getting a dion 2.0 at 3M less then when they had him.... Muzzin certainly has a pedigree this is exciting.

Does his shot hit the net? Make good outlet passes?

I respect all your opinions,I just would expect one piece better than Grundstrom.Kasperi Kapanen type player is a fair value. Now you can rework the deal but that's the quality I would expect.Leafs got a good player for less value in my opinion.

Well then, the shoe has dropped. We'll see how high that 1st is. Couple prospects. A couple seasons ago, I would have never thought Muzzin would get even a late 1st.
nice to sell high, and its a committment of sorts from management which is nice to see

happy trails to jake though, i think he's got another big contract in him and toronto will pay that

I hope you're right.

Even a late 1st round pick is good....#25 at the moment. Kings just got Kupari at 20. They have been doing better the last 3 years in the first 2 rounds....Clague, JAD and Thomas the
last 3, second rounds. So, the Kings will get a top prospect at 25, or wherever it ends up...could even end up being around 20. Jake turns 30 next month. It's not like he's 27. Sure,
he's at the top of his game and great overall. But this is a good return. Grundstrom can play. If he tops out at 10 goals and 30 points? Nothing wrong with that today. Honestly,
Luff, Wagner and Leipsic will be hard pressed to score 30 points. Grundstrom scored 17 goals in 35 games in Frolunda last year at 20 yrs old. #2 on Frolunda. Then scored 8 goals
in 20 games and was a big part of winning the Calder Cup. Durzi surely has good upside and RHD.

We will be able to better judge this trade, 1 year from now. I think the Kings got very good return. This probably woke up a few GMs, hoping to make a bid for Muzzin
at the deadline...and now may be calling Blake now, asking about Carter, Quick, Martinez, Toffoli, and even Brown. GOOD!!!

Good trade. This team is totally shot. If you can get 2 #1's for Quick and Muzzin plus holding this years #1 which should be top 3 the Kings will be able to rebuild quickly. The trick is trying to unload the rest of the case of headless horsemen. These guys better have their bags packed, all the warm weather clothes put away and a big mirror to look at themselves so when their family is questioning why they have to leave they know who to look at to blame. The country club is closing. Cancel the dog calendar, fire Purcell and let's get back to focusing on winning on ice hockey not all the BS that goes on off it (none of which apparently included working out hard).

I just looked this up, but I found this interesting. Durzi was the 52nd pick in last years draft. Literally one pick earlier was Akil Thomas. Blake must have had Durzi on his radar at the draft last year, but was probably shocked that Akil was still there at their pick.

Old news, he declined immensely. He's more likely to not even make the NHL.

Many leaf fans peddled Bracco over Grundstrom. Lots of leaf fans not happy to lose Grundstrom either.

Course they are thrilled to keep Liljegren.

Durzi is trending up as an over aged player. He’s a wild card but he is another rhd to add to the prospect pool. The pick will make or break the total value of the return. Hoping LA mines some gold with it.

Kapanen today, or the prospect back in the Kessel deal?
